CONTINUOUS DEEDS

Abu Salih R.A. reports "I enquired from Aayeshah and Ummi Salamah Radhiyallahu anhuma that which act was the most beloved by Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam?" Both gave the reply "That deed, which was practiced continuously, even if it was a little".

Commentary: All Nafl (optional) deeds, even if it be a little, or whatever could be done should be practised continuously and with care. One should not forsake these with the thought that it cannot be practised constantly because the Nawafil are the only acts that compensate the short comings of the Faraa'id (compulsory act). Therefore, one should endeavour to observe and practice as much as one possibly can.

Pumpkin Soup

2 Tbsp finely chopped onion
2 Tbsp butter
¼ cup flour
2 cups milk
2 cups cooked mashed pumpkin/butternut salt and pepper to taste
A dash of ground cinnamon and nutmeg
½ tsp red ginger garlic
½ cup fresh cream
2 cups vegetable stock

Method:
Braise onions and red ginger garlic in butter, when it changes colour add flour and milk and stir over low heat till smooth and begins to boil. Add in vegetable stock and simmer for 10 minutes then add well mashed pumpkin, fresh cream and spices and simmer for 10 minutes until well integrated. Garnish with chopped greens.
