  Ritual Ibadah in Islam ties the heart to its Lord around the clock. The Qur’an calls for remembering Allah prior to sunrise and sunset, and to devoting a portion of the night to intimate night dialogue with Him. It calls the Muslim to remember Allah through the five daily prayers, through wudhu (ritual washing) and invocations preceding those prayers, through a month of annual fasting, through a periodic read-through of the entire Qur’an, etc. more

Cleaning The Plate After Eating

Question: Why are we required to clean our plates after eating?

Answer: Sayyiduna Jabir RA. narrates that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam commanded that the fingers should be licked and the utensil should be cleaned [i.e. before washing it]. Expounding the benefit of this, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "As it is unknown which particle of food contains the Barakah (blessings)." [Targhib Vol 3, Page 146]

Sayyiduna Nubaysha RA. narrates that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: " If a person eats from a plate and cleans it, the plate will supplicate to Allah Ta'ala for his forgiveness." [Sunan Ibn Majah Vol 2: Page 235]

Chicken & Vegetable Palau

2 cups of rice- boiled until nearly done
500g chicken breast- cooked with:
Crushed garlic,
salt,
pepper,
red chilles, crushed jeera, 1 tin sweetcorn
*2 onions cut into rings
*2 coloured peppers cut into rings
*2 potatoes cut into rounds
*2 tomatoes cut into rounds

Method:
Fry each of asterisk marked ingredients separately in oil. Make a seasoning of salt, pepper, chillies, thyme, mint, crushed jeera. Place meat at the bottom of a casserole dish. Layer each vegetable over this and sprinkle seasoning over each layer. Spread rice over, and pour 2 Tbsp of melted ghee over the top, cover and steam palau in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes.
