Consumer Rights: Part 2
The Consumer Bill of Rights
Imagine that you just bought an electronic device or a new appliance for your kitchen. You are so excited, you take pleasure in just unboxing it and can`t wait to show it to your family and friends. Your excitement is shattered and your heart is broken because the thing won`t work. You will certainly feel disheartened but you need not worry because the good news is that you have rights as a consumer. These rights protect you when a product is defective. In 1962, the Consumer Bill of Rights was formed. The bill stated that every person has four basic consumer rights — the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to safety, and the right to be heard. These rights received a lot of attention from the consumer movement, a movement to pass laws protecting consumers from unfair and unsafe business practices. Over the years, three other rights were added: the right to have problems corrected, the right to consumer education, and the right to service. read more |

By Faizel Patel
With just about a month left before the start of the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims have been urged to avoid inconveniencing others in the masjid when going for salaah or when parking at the place of worship.
Sadly, it has become a bad habit among many to force themselves to the front of the masjid disturbing others who have already occupied the first few safs. more

SUNNAH |
Sayyadatina Salmaa RA says that Sayyadina Hasan RA, Abdullah bin Abbaas RA and Abdullah bin Ja'far RA went to her and said: "Cook
for us the food that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) liked and ate with pleasure". She replied: "O my children, you will not like it now".
(It was only liked in times of hardships). They replied: "Yes, we will
surely like it". She got up and took a bit of barley, (stamped it) and put it in a pot, and poured a little olive oil over it, then stamped some chillies and spices and added it to the pot and served it, saying, this is what Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) loved (and ate with pleasure). |
