Bao Buns Recipe
Bao Buns (pronounced “bow”), but also known as a ‘steamed buns’ are a delicious, warm, fluffy treat of stuffing wrapped inside a sweet, white dough. Made with a mix of flour, yeast, sugar, baking powder, milk and oil, the bao is a tad sweeter than its closely related cousin, the dumpling.
Use the Arabic dough recipe. Roll and shape into an oblong shape and fold onto itself -place a piece of non stick paper between the folded bao and place a piece underneath the bao to prevent sticking. You can Steam in a bamboo steamer or in a colander. Steam for 7-8 minutes.
Crispy fried Chicken:
Tenderize 4 chicken fillet. Marinate in:
Garlic, green masala, salt, chicken spice, Portuguese chicken spice, lemon pepper, garlic powder, chilli powder and chilli flakes, lemon juice. Leave to marinate overnight.
Mix together a coating:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup Maziena
- Salt
- Garlic powder
- Chicken spice
- Chilli powder
Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mix, then into beaten egg (season with salt, lemon pepper, garlic powder) then again into flour mixture.
Fry till golden in colour.
Assemble:
- Spread mayonnaise of choice
- Sriracha sauce
- Hoisin
- Fried chicken
- Sesame seeds
- Pickled ginger
You can add more mayo if u wish...
