Africanism and Islam: Part 1

Held every year on the 24 January, World Day for African and Afro descendant Culture celebrates the many vibrant cultures of the African continent and African Diasporas around the world, and promotes them as an effective lever for sustainable development, dialogue and peace.

As a rich source of the world’s shared heritage, promoting African and Afro descendant culture is crucial for the development of the continent, and for humanity as a whole. Celebration of this day also aims to promote the widest possible ratification and implementation of this Charter by African States, thereby strengthening the role of culture in promoting peace on the continent. read more

THE 99 NAMES OF ALLAH (Asmaa ul Husnaa)

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari 50:894)

Abu Huraira RA reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) as saying: "There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number) and He loves odd numbers.." (Sahih Muslim Book-48 Hadith-5)

THE SMILE

Sweat Her Choice

My mother once gave me two sweaters. The next time we visited, I made sure to wear one.

As we entered her home, instead of the expected smile, she said, "What's the matter? You didn't like the other one?"
