Coping with Grief: Part 3

Stages of Grief

Grief is universal. At some point in everyone’s life, there will be at least one encounter with grief. It may be from the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, the end of a relationship, or any other change that alters life as you know it.

Grief is also very personal. It’s not very neat or linear. It doesn’t follow any timelines or schedules. Everyone grieves differently, but there are some commonalities in the stages and the order of feelings experienced during grief. read more

Aayeshah (RA) says: "The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) liked the 'Dhiraa' portion of meat not because of its tastiness, but because meat was only available occasionally, and this portion of the meat cooked quickly. The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) also liked it as it saved time and he could return quickly to his commitments."

Commentary: In the narration, it is stated that Sayyidina The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) liked the 'Dhiraa' part of the meat. It is possible there were many reasons for him liking this portion.

RECIPE

Mango and Passion Fruit Ice Lollies

  • 1 cup mango puree
  • 1 tblsp lime juice
  • ½ cup condensed milk or to taste
  • 3 to 4 tblsp fresh grated coconut
  • 2 to 3 drops of yellow colour... Optional
  • 3 to 4 tblsp passion fruit pulp
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup greek yoghurt

In a blender add mando puree, lime juice, coconut, yoghurt, condense milk and vanilla essence.

Blitz for 1 to 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Now add passion fruit pulp and mix well with a spoon.

Scoop the mango mixture into the popsicle moulds gently tapping the moulds to remove any air bubbles from the mixture.

Place into the freezer and freeze for 6 to 8 hours or until completely frozen.

Let the moulds sit out for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the popsicle to warm slightly and make it easier to remove.

Slide popsicle out of the mould and enjoy.

THE SMILE

Animal Superbowl

During the Super Bowl, there was another football game of note between the big animals and the little animals. The big animals were crushing little animals and at half time, the coach made a passionate speech to rally the little animals.

At the start of the second half the big animals had the ball. The first play, the elephant got stopped for no gain. The second play, the rhino was stopped for no gain. On third down, the hippo was thrown for a 5 yard loss.

The defense huddled around the coach and he asked excitedly,

"Who stopped the elephant?"
"I did," said the centipede.
"Who stopped the rhino?"
"Uh, that was me too," said the centipede.

"And how about the hippo? Who hit him for a 5 yard loss?"

"Well, that was me as well," said the centipede.

"SO WHERE WERE YOU THE FIRST HALF?" demanded the coach.

"Well," said the centipede, "I was having my ankles taped."
