The Family in Islaam By Sh Abdul Bari Ath Thubayti The God-fearing Muslim family is the heart of a healthy community. The piety of a family is dependent on the piety of individual members of the family, and the piety of a community is likewise dependent on the piety of the families who make up the community. Islam attaches great importance to the family, how it is established and how to keep it together. For the Muslim family to keep up its high position it maintains a state of love and harmony, and you find in it feelings of amicability and Kindness. Allah says, “And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy.? He also says, “They are Libaas [i.e. body cover, or screen, or Sakan, (i.e. you enjoy the pleasure of living with her)] for you and you are the same for them.” (Al-Baqarah: 187). read more |

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari 50:894) Abu Huraira RA reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) as saying: "There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Chocolate lamington pancakes COURTESY LANDI GOVENDER Ingredients 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour For the chocolate sauce: Method for pancakes: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Sift in the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a deep bowl, add the butter and boiling water whisking till smooth. Set aside to cool. Coat each pancake into the chocolate mixture then coat in the desiccated coconut. Serve with fresh berries. |
