Surah An-Najam 53: - (The Star)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"It is taught to him by one [angel] of strong faculties..." 53:5

COMMENTARY: Many noble Companions, and other leading commentators, take these verses to refer to the event when the Noble Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) saw the noble angel Jibra'il (AS) in his original shape. According to them, (one of strong faculties), and other qualities and acts mentioned in these verses are the qualities of Jibrail (AS). There are many factors in support of this interpretation. Historically, Surah An-Najm is one of the very early Surahs and, according to Sayyidna 'Abdullah Ibn Masud RA, this is the first Surah the Noble Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) recited in public in the Sacred city of Makkah.

There is a Hadeeth recorded in the Musnad of Ahmad, the Noble Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) himself interprets these verses that they relate to seeing Jibra'il (AS).

Masrooq reports from Sha'bi. Masrooq said: "One day I asked Sayyidah A'ishah RA: 'Did Allah not say: 'And indeed he saw him in the clear horizon' and indeed he saw him another time' she replied: 'I was the first among the Ummah to ask the Noble Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) about it.' He said: 'That was Jibra'il. He only saw him twice in his actual and real figure. He saw Jibra'il descend from heaven to earth, and he was so huge that he covered the entire horizon between the sky and the earth." (Ibn-Kathb)

Coffee Cake

¾ cup butter
1 cup castor sugar
3 eggs
1 ½ cups self rising flour
½ tsp baking powder
2 tsp coffee dissolved in 2 Tbsp boiling water.
½ cup chopped walnuts/ pecan nuts

Method:
Beat butter until and creamy. Add eggs one at a time and beat mixture till fluffy. Sift flour and baking powder and add to above. Lastly add in coffee mixture and nuts, pour into 2 sand which tins and bake at 180 for 20 to 25 min.

Icing:
Icing sugar
100ml cold water
1 Tbsp coffee dissolved in 2 Tbsp boiling water
125g butter

Place sugar and water in a saucepan mix well and allow to boil until it thickens. Cool slightly. In separate bowl add egg yolks and sugar syrup and beat well together. Add dissolved coffee to above mixture and beat again. Add butter to icing mixture and beat again. Add butter to icing mixture. Lastly ice cakes with the coffee icing and decorate as desired.

Race to the End

Last year I entered a marathon. The race started and immediately I was the last of the runners. It was embarrassing.

The guy who was in front of me, second to last, was making fun of me. He said, "Hey buddy, how does it feel to be last?"

I replied, "You really want to know?"

Then I dropped out of the race.
