Don’t be like the Weather, Ponder on Your Temperament & the Effect it has on You & Others

Have you pondered about the effect your mood has on those around you?

Esteemed Islamic scholar Ml Sulaimaan Ravat while sharing the latest weather updates expounded on the common phrase of “his or her mood is like the weather” depicting the demeanor that we exude and what the impact may be on others.

• Keeping Safe this December

Abu Usayd (Radhiallahu Anhu) says: "Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: 'Use olive oil in eating and for rubbing (on the body), for it is from a mubaarak (blessed) tree'".

Commentary: The blessedness of this tree has been mentioned in the Qur-aan in the verse "... from a blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West, ... " -Surah An Nur, 35.

The Ulama have mentioned different reasons for its blessedness. Some say it is mostly grown in Syria and the earth of Syria is blessed because seventy prophets were sent to it. Some say it is blessed because of its many benefits. Abu Nu'aym says: 'It has a cure for seventy diseases of which one is leprosy'.

Sayyidina Ibn Abbaas RA says: 'Every part of the olive is beneficial. The oil is used for burning and cooking. It is also used for tanning. Its wood is used for firewood. The ash of the olive is especially good for washing silk'. It is said that the olive tree has a Jong life. It bears fruit after forty years and has a lifespan of a thousand years. Its numerous benefits are mentioned in the books of Tibb.

Chicken Roti Rolls

• ½  kg chicken fillet (stripped)
• 1 tblsp ginger garlic masala
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp dry dhana
• 1 tsp arad
• 1 tsp red chillies
• 5 tblsp lemon juice
• 1 large potato (cubed)
• Ghee/oil

Mix the above ingredients together. Cook till completely done. Make about 6 rotis, place chicken filling in the center, drizzle with tomato sauce and mayo. Roll stiffly, cut in half, pack in foil containers and its ready to eat.

One day my son asked me what a certain word meant. I was so proud of my clear, concise definition that was just right for his age. But when I finished, he thought for a moment and said, "I'd better ask Mommy." That brought me back down to earth!
