Who should one befriend? by Imâm al Haramain Umar as Subayyil All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the noble Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam), his family and companions. "Verily those who say, 'Our Lord is only Allah;' and thereafter stood firm and straight, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. Such shall be the dwellers of Paradise, abiding therein (forever), a reward for what they used to do." (Al–Ahqaaf 46: 13–14) One of the greatest things that help Muslims to have piety and uprightness on the path of truth and guidance is keeping the company of good people and avoiding evil company, for man, by his nature, gets influenced by his friends and companions and adopts their characters and manners. The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari 50:894) Abu Huraira RA reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) as saying: "There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number) and He loves odd numbers.." (Sahih Muslim Book-48 Hadith-5) اللَّطِيفُAL-LATEEF: The Subtle One, The Most Gentle - The One who is Most knowledgeable of the most subtle details. His actions are so fine and subtle that they may be beyond our comprehension. He bestows gifts that are finely suited to the needs of His creation. He is extraordinarily gracious and understanding. He guides us and treats us with a kindness without us perceiving it. |
