Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) forbade breathing into the vessel while drinking. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Commentary: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) prohibited us from breathing in the drinking vessel because the bad smell or spittle may flow into the drink. This is both loathsome as well as injurious to one's health. |

Fruits Custard 2 bananas chopped - 4 peaches chopped - 1 mango chopped - ½ cup fresh cream - ½ litre milk - 2 Tbsp corn flour - 8 Tbsp sugar - 1 pkt Halaal strawberry jelly - 2 Tbsp china grass - 6 Tsbp sugar - Rose essence. Make jelly in 2 cups boiling water, cool and set then cut into pieces. Soak china grass in water. Boil 3 cups of water with 6 Tbsp sugar and add the china grass. Cook til it dissolves and turns thick. Cool it it and mix rose essence and set. Then cut into pieces. Boil milk add corn flour and keep stiring till it becomes thick and creamy. Remove from heat and mix 8 Tbsp sugar. Cool and add cream. In a bowl put the chopped mixed fruit and pour over custard. Decorate the top with jelly pieces and china grass. Chill and serve. |

CHICKEN SURPRISE A couple goes for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and orders the 'Chicken Surprise'. The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot. Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around, before the lid slams back down. 'Good grief, did you see that?' she asks her husband. He hadn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises and he sees two little eyes, looking around before it slams down. Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation. 'Please sir,' says the waiter, 'what you order?' The husband replies, 'Chicken Surprise' 'Ah! Soooo solly,' says the waiter. 'I bling you Peeking Duck by
