Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) used to perform four Rak`ah of Duha prayer (at the forenoon) and would add to them whatever Allah wished. [Muslim]

Commentary: We learn from this Hadith that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) used to perform usually four Rak`ah in Duha prayers but sometimes he also performed more. In some of the Ahadith, their number varies from two to eight. One is therefore free to perform two, four or eight Rak`ah according to his convenience.

CHICKEN & VEGETABLE PALAU

2 cups of rice- boiled until nearly done.

500g chicken breast- cooked with:
Crushed garlic, salt, pepper, red chilles, crushed jeera, 1 tin sweetcorn.
*2 onions cut into rings.
*2 coloured peppers cut into rings.
*2 potatoes cut into rounds.
*2 tomatoes cut into rounds.

Method:

1. Fry each of asterisk marked ingredients separately in oil.
2. Make a seasoning of salt, pepper, chillies, thyme, mint, crushed jeera.
3. Place meat at the bottom of a casserole dish.
4. Layer each vegetable over this and sprinkle seasoning over each layer.
5. Spread rice over, and pour 2 Tbsp of melted ghee over the top, cover and steam palau in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes.

UNFAIR PAYMENT

Carlson was charged with stealing a Mercedes Benz and, after a long trial, the jury acquitted him. Later that day Carlson came back to the judge who had presided at the hearing.

"Your honor," he said, "I wanna get out a warrant for that dirty lawyer of mine."

"Why?" asked the judge. "He won your acquittal. What do you want to have him arrested for?"

"Well, your honor," replied Carlson, "I didn't have the money to pay his fee, so he went and took the car I stole."
