Surah Ar-Rahman (The All-Merciful)

This Surah is Madani, and it has 78 verses and 3 sections

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"And His are the sailing ships raised up in the sea like mountains..." 55:24

COMMENTARY: The word 'jawaari' is the plural of 'jaariyah'. One of its meanings is ship and that is the sense in which it is used in the current verse. The word 'munsha'aat' is derived from 'nasha'a' which means 'to rise up or high, be lofty'. Al-munsha'at thus refers to 'sails of the ships that are lofty'. The verse describes the wisdom of making the ship and its running on the surface of the water.

WAFFLES

Ingredients
2 cups flour - 3 tsps Baking powder - ½ tsps salt - 1 ½ tblsp sugar - 2 eggs separated - 2-2 ¼ cups milk - 4 tblsp ghee - Vanilla essence to taste. Method 1
Sift together all dry ingredients. Add slightly beaten egg yolks and milk beat thoroughly. Add ghee and enough vanilla essence to taste. Lastly fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake on a hot waffle iron until golden brown.

Method:
1. Mix all ingredients together in an electric mixer for 3 to 4 minutes.
2. Bake on a waffle iron till golden brown.
Serve waffles with whipped cream and fruit of your choice. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon and syrup.

MOM WAS GETTING SWAMPED WITH...

Mom was getting swamped with calls from strangers. The reason? A medical billing service had launched an 800 number that was identical to hers. When she called to complain, they told her to get a new number. "I've had mine for twenty years," she pleaded. "Couldn't you change yours?" They refused. So Mom said, "Fine. From now on I'm going to tell everyone who calls that their bill is paid in full."
