Surah Al-Waqiah 56: - (The Imminent Event)

With the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"We have made it a reminder [of Our infinite power, and of the fire of hell] and a benefit for travellers in deserts..." 56:73)

"So, proclaim the purity of the name of your Lord, the Magnificent..." 56:74

COMMENTARY: The last answer is summarized thus in verse [73] "We have made it a reminder [of Our infinite power, and of the fire of hell] and a benefit for travelers in deserts..." 56:73)

The word Muqween is derived from the infinitive 'Iqwa' and it comes from the root-word 'Qiwa' which means 'waste, barren land, ruin or desert'. Thus the word 'Muqwt' means 'a traveler or a wayfarer of a desert who alights to prepare his meals'. The verse purports to say that all these creations are the result of Allah's power and wisdom.

("So, proclaim the purity of the name of your Lord, the Magnificent..." 56:74)

The logical and rational conclusion of the above considerations should be for man to believe in the All-Encompassing Divine Power and in His Oneness, and declare the Purity of the Great Lord; for that is the way to express His gratitude.

* 7.0 quake off New Caledonia sparks tsunami alert - A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the eastern coast of New Caledonia on Monday, triggering a brief tsunami warning and evacuation alert but causing no significant damage.

* Israel to shut migrant centre and deport Africans - Israel's cabinet voted on Sunday to close a migrant detention centre, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced an agreement to deport 40 000 Africans who entered the country illegally.

Chicken & Vegetable Palau

2 cups of rice- boiled until nearly done.

500g chicken breast- cooked with:
Crushed garlic, salt, pepper, red chilles, crushed jeera, 1 tin sweetcorn.
*2 onions cut into rings.
*2 coloured peppers cut into rings.
*2 potatoes cut into rounds.
*2 tomatoes cut into rounds.

Method:

1. Fry each of asterisk marked ingredients separately in oil.
2. Make a seasoning of salt, pepper, chillies, thyme, mint, crushed jeera.
3. Place meat at the bottom of a casserole dish.
4. Layer each vegetable over this and sprinkle seasoning over each layer.
5. Spread rice over, and pour 2 Tbsp of melted ghee over the top, cover and steam palau in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes.

TRY MARRIAGE

Because I had forgotten the dates for a number of my friends and relatives' birthdays and anniversaries, I decided to compile a list on the computer and have the dates highlighted on screen when the machine was turned on.

I went to a number of computer stores to find a software program that would do the job, but had no luck at the first few. I finally found one where the clerk seemed experienced.

"Can you recommend something that will remind me of birthdays and anniversaries?" I asked.

"Have you tried a wife?" he replied.
