Surah Al-Hadeed 57: - (The Iron)

With the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

(O those who believe, fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will give you two shares [of reward] out of His mercy, .. 28)

COMMENTARY: The vocative expression 'those who believe...' in this verse refers to the People of the Book who believed in Prophet Esa (AS). As a general rule, the Qur'an uses this vocative expression for Muslims only, not for Jews or Christians. The expression used for the Jews and Christians is 'Ahlul-Kitab' [People of the Book]. Here the Qur'an deviates from the general rule, and addresses the Jews and Christians by the words, "O those who believe" presumably because the concluding verse reminds the Christians that the true meaning of believing in Prophet Esa (AS) dictates that they should believe in the Last Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him). If they do, then they deserve to be called as 'those who believe'.

'two shares [of reward]' - The first reward is on account of their believing in Prophet Esa (AS) and or Prophet Musa (AS) and following their Shariah (code of laws), and the second reward is for their believing in the Noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) and acting upon his Shariah (code of laws). The present verse clarifies that when an unbeliever embraces Islam, all his good actions are restored, hence he is doubly rewarded.

SPICED CUBED STEAK WITH SAVOURY RICE

Ingredients
1kg Cubed Steak - 7 ml Salt to taste - 1 = tsps ground Dhania - 1 tsp Ground Jeero - 1 tsp crushed dired red chillies - 3 tsps plain Ginger/Garlic - 3 whole cloves - 3 whole allspice - 3 cardomon seeds (elachi) - 2 pieces stick cinnamon - A few strands of Saffron - 50ml Sunflower Oil - 3 large onions thinly sliced - 1 large ripe tomato grated or finely chopped.

Method
Combine all the spices and toss with meat. Heat oil in a large saucepan add onions and braise until golden. Add meat and spices and cook covered on medium heat until tender. Add tomato and cook a further 15 minutes adding a pinch of sugar if desired. Serve hot on a bed of savory rice.

THE PERFECT HUSBAND?

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: "Hello"
WOMAN: "Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?"

MAN: "Yes"
WOMAN: "I'm at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only $1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?"

MAN: "Sure, go ahead if you like it that much."
WOMAN: "I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2007 models. I saw one I really liked."

MAN: "How much?"
WOMAN: "$80,000."

MAN: "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options."
WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing. The house we wanted last year is back on the market. They're asking $950,000."

MAN: "Well, then go ahead and give them an offer, but just offer $900,000."
WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you!"

MAN: "Bye, I love you, too."

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are looking at him in astonishment. Then he smiles and asks: "Anyone knows whose phone this is?"
