Surah Al-Hadeed 57: - (The Iron)

With the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most-Merciful

"We have indeed sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and sent down with them the Book and the Balance, so that people may uphold justice. And We sent down iron in which there is strong power, and benefits for the people; and [We did it] so that Allah knows the one who helps Him and His messengers without seeing [Him]. Surely Allah is Strong, Mighty." (57:25)

COMMENTARY: According to the verse, 'iron' serves two purposes:

1. Iron represents power and holds the hostile opponents in great awe, and may compel the rebellious people to abide by Divine laws and system of justice.
2. Iron also holds great benefits for man. In other words, iron is a thing of common utility as it is used on a large scale in various industries. It is indispensable for the invention of every device, machine, mechanical apparatus, contrivance, and there is some iron in almost everything man innovates. No contrivance is possible without iron.

HE LOVES ME

A sinner too shameless to repent,
too scared to lament;
i have begun to resent myself

A believer too shy to follow and abide,
too worried about people's eyes, sighs and cries;
i have begun to resent myself

A servant too proud to say His name aloud,
too busy to face away from the clouds;
i have begun to resent myself

A Muslim too lost to repel this world,
too oblivious to the wrath of my Lord;
i have begun to resent myself

But, in hating myself, He still loves me.
How can this be? How can this be?

SPINACH ROLLS RECIPE

1 bunch spinach washed and cleaned.
Neatly slice out the middle vein, leaving the leaf whole
½ kg cooked chicken filling of choice
1 egg whisked with salt and fine red chillies

Method:

• Lay all spinach leaves flat
• Brush with egg mixture
• Place 1 tblsp or more of chicken filling on each leaf, depending on the size of the leaf.
• Roll each leaf closed like a spring roll, making sure all the sides are closed
• At the end pierce it close with a clove.
• Place all spinach rolls in a pot and steam on low for 15 to 20 minutes until the colour of the leaves change
• Lightly brush both sides with olive oil and fry for just a minute on each side.
• Serve hot with puri and chutney

RAPID TRAIN SERVICE

A passenger train is creeping along, painfully slow. Finally, it creaks to a complete halt. A passenger sees a conductor walking by outside.

"What's going on?" she yells out the window.

"Cow on the track!" replies the conductor.

Ten minutes later, the train resumes its slow pace. Within five minutes, however, it stops again. The woman sees the same conductor walking by again. She leans out the window and yells, "What happened? Did we catch up with the cow again?"
