Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "He who gives respite to someone who is in straitened circumstances, or grants him remission, Allah will shelter him in the shade of His Throne, on the Day of Resurrection, when there will be no shade except its shade.'' [At-Tirmidhi]

Commentary: On the Day of Resurrection, the sun will come very close to people's heads who will then be badly sweating to the extent that sweat will reach up to their ankles, or knees or shoulders; some will be totally overwhelmed with their sweat (depending on their sins). Those people who will have the privilege of getting in the shade of the Throne will be then very lucky indeed. Among such lucky people, there will be a person who used not only to give loans to the poor and the needy but also gave them convenience in the payment of their debts or would forgive a part of the loan or all of it. This Hadith has food for thought for the affluent. Nowadays people usually lend money to people of their own status and do not like to give loan to the poor because they think that it is difficult to recover from them. As far as remitting a loan is concerned, we have totally forgotten this precept. In any case, to refuse loan to a poor, when a person is in a position to lend money to him, is hateful. To lend money to a needy and then to show him leniency in its payment or to remit it altogether is a praiseworthy act, the best reward for which will be given to him on the Day of Resurrection. May Allah enable us to be generous to the poor on this account.

SEAFOOD AKHNI

Ingredients
1 kg mixed seafood (prawns calamari kingklip crayfish tails) - 3 large onions finely sliced - Cooking oil for frying - 200grm mushrooms chopped - 1 Green pepper seeded and chopped - 1 Red pepper seeded and chopped - 750ml uncooked rice - Salt and Tabasco sauce to taste.

Marinade
60ml peri-peri sauce - 10ml grouched garlic - Salt & freshly ground pepper to taste - 5ml Tabasco sauce.

Method
Combine marinade ingredients in a mixing bowl add mixed seafood and marinate for 1 hour. Fry onion in heated oil until golden 5-10 mins. Add mushrooms and fry a further 5 mins or until softened. Remove onions and mushrooms from pan and set aside. Fry peppers in oil for 5 mins remove from pan and set aside. Transfer seafood and marinade to frying pan and fry for 15 mins. Meanwhile boil rice in salted water until tender about 20 mins. Drain and rinse the rice. Layer ingredients in a large saucepan as follows:

First rice, then onions and mushrooms (save some onion for garnish) then peppers and finally seafood mixture. Continue layering until all the ingredients have been used up. Sprinkling each layer with a little salt and Tabasco sauce.Steam covered over medium heat for 30 mins. Garnish with reserved onions. Serve on its own or as an accompaniment to Prawns curry.

FLUSHING TROUBLE DOWN THE DRAIN

Bad Idea: A severe drought and poor maintenance had done a number on the sewers. And because of insufficient water pressure, the pipes kept clogging, causing some to burst. So, without the benefit of a massive plunger, what’s a city to do? Simple, said the town council. Twice a week, citizens will simultaneously flush their toilets in order to produce enough water pressure in the sewer system to dislodge clogs.

It Worked! One resident told the Press, “So far, the flushing of the toilets has been a success.”
