| AL-KHAWRZIMI
The inventor of logarithms, Muhammad ibn Musa
al-Khwarizmi, was born in 780 AD, and was brought up in the
court of al-Ma'mun by his father, Musa ibn Shakir, who was a
high official in the palace. Al-Khwarizmi also took up a job
in the Khalif's court and very shortly became a great favourite
of the Khalif. He became an expert in the Sanskrit language
and translated into Arabic, under the orders of the Khalif the
Siddhantas a Hindu astronomical book, and added several notes
