Alhamdulillah, firstly we thank the Almighty Allah Ta’ala for allowing us to see the 21st century. A time where we have the best technology at hand, a time where life is easier and most things are easily available. However, there is no button or technology in this world that can help us get more water or provoke heavy rains.

Most of us are aware and we know that the country's Water supplies are limited, water shortages (scarcity) has become very popular in our communities that it is actually happening on a daily basis in many areas. (Particularly during the last week) Still, a number of organizations and individuals are constantly working to raise awareness of the value of water and to encourage water savings in every area. Well some people say religion is the most effective and easiest ways of convincing the users not to waste water.

*The role of Islam*
Water plays a central role in Islam, The word *water* is mentioned more than 60 times in the Quran and there are also many references to rain, snow and ice. But also keep in mind that the Quraan and Hadith clearly condemn the wasting of water.

As mentioned in a Hadith of The Noble Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam); one of his companions, Saad (RA), was performing the ritual Wudhu that is required before prayer, Saad (RA) was using a lot of water, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) asked him: “Why are you wasting water like this?” Saad (RA) was surprised and asked whether it was possible to waste water during Wudhu. To this the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) responded: “one must never waste water, even on the banks of a flowing river.” [Ibn Ma¯jah, 425]

Ingredients:
2 cups self rising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp castor sugar
Pinch of salt
¼ cup butter/margarine
¼ cup cheddar cheese
3 Tbsp parsley
½ cup onion
½ cup tomato
¼ cup green pepper
1 egg
4/5 cup milk or fresh cream or orley whip dessert crème

Method:
Sieve self rising flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together. Rub in butter or margarine to resemble crumbs. Add grated cheese and vegetables and mix well. Beat egg and milk together and add dry ingredients to make a soft dough. Place spoonfuls of mixture onto a greased baking tray or in muffin pan. Brush with beaten egg. Bake at 180 C for +- 15 minutes until golden brown.
