TAKING THE INITIATIVE IN DOING GOOD

His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Rahman al-Sudais –May Allah protect him– delivered this Friday khutbah titled “Taking the Initiative in Doing Good” in which he talked about the necessity to take the initiative and promptly proceed to do good. He explained that such had been the habit of the Prophet –May Allah’s Salat and Peace be upon him– as well as his virtuous Companions ?May Allah be please with them. He then illustrated this with some inspiring examples from the era of the founding fathers of Muslim society, and equally showed appreciation for the outstanding modern initiatives which should be taken by the younger generations as model to emulate. read more

WHEN WAKING UP AT NIGHT

It is reported of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) that he said: "One who wakes up at night and says:

Lã 'ilãha 'illa 'allãhu wahdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa huwa `ala kulli shay'in qadeerun, 'al-hamdu lil-lahi, wa subhãnallãhi, wa lã 'ilãha 'illa 'allãhu, wa 'allãhu 'akbaru, wa lã hawla wa lã quwwata 'illã bil-lahi 'al-`alyyil-`atheem,

then says: 'Allãhumma 'ighfirlee,

or supplicates, he will be answered, then if he makes ablution and prays his prayer would be accepted".

TRANSLATION: "There is no 'ilãh except Allah, Alone, no associate does He have, his is the Kingdom, to Him is all praise, and He is very able to do every thing. All praise be to Allah, Glory be Allah, there is no 'ilãh except Allah, and Allah is greater [than every thing]. There is neither might, nor strength except by Allah The High The Magnificent."

POTATO SAVOURY RECIPE

Ingredients

The Dough

1 cup flour
1 tblsp ghee
½ tsp salt
sift together flour and salt, then add ghee and make soft dough with water.

The Filling

4 medium size or 3 large potatoes cubed

then add salt to taste
crushed green chillies to taste
2 tblsps lemon juice
1 tsp of red chillie powder
½ tsp arad
½ tsp whole jeero
½ tsp mustard seeds
some curry leaves

Cook cubed potatoes into the following spices until nice and soft. when cold cut up some dhania and mint and add to potatoe filling. divide dough into small ping pong size balls. roll into small rounds and add potatoe filling. brush edges with flour and water paste. bring all sides together in the centre. fry in deep oil and serve with chutney of choice. this savoury freezes very well.
