THE FRIDAY KHUTBAH (sermon)

THE GOOD TREATMENT OF FELLOW MUSLIMS

By Sheikh Abdul-Bari ibn Awwad Ath-Thubaiti

His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Bari ibn Awwad Ath-Thubaiti, may Allah preserve him, delivered the Friday khutbah entitled, “The Good Treatment of Fellow Muslims”, in which he talked about forms of the good treatment of fellow Muslims, showing how this is realised when dealing with parents, brothers and sisters, close and distant relatives, and spouses. He also showed how good treatment is realised when dealing with the weak, the poor and needy, the notables, the people in authority, the elderly, and other members of the Muslim community.?

Our relation with other Muslims should be based on truthfulness, sincere love, heartfelt harmony, and boundless generosity. The people who deserve our best treatment are our parents, without whom we would not come to life. Their right to be honoured is therefore confirmed and honouring them is given the highest priority. Good treatment of parents is realised by honouring them, showing kindness to them, serving them with one’s effort and money, praying for them whether they are alive or dead, and showing respect to their friends. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The highest form of honouring one’s father is to maintain relations with the people whom he loved.” read more

WHEN ENTERING A MARKET/SHOPPING CENTER - RECITE THE FOLLOWING WORDS:

Laa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu Laa shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyee wa yumeetu wa huwa hayyul Laa yamootu, biyadihil khayr wa huwa alaa kulli shay'in qadeer

There is no deity except Allah, the Only One. He has no partner. To Him belongs all kingdom and to Him belongs all praise. He is the One who gives life and death. And He is Ever-living and no death comes to Him. In His Hand lies all good and He has power over everything.

It is reported in a Hadith that for reciting these words, Allah Ta’aala will record one million good deeds, forgive one million sins, elevate the status a million times and build a house for him in Jannah.

THE SMILE

I NEED DIRECTIONS TO GO HOME

A man hates his wife's cat and decides to get rid of it. He drives 20 blocks from his home and drops off the cat there. But when he arrives home, he finds the cat walking up the driveway.

The next day, he drops the cat 40 blocks away but the same thing happens. He keeps trying to get rid of the cat by increasing the distance between his home and where he abandons the animal. But the cat keeps finding his way home.

At last he decides to drive a few kilometres away, turn right then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reaches what he believes is a perfect spot to dump the cat.

Hours later, the man calls his wife at home and asks: "Is the cat there?"

"Yes, why?" asks the wife.

Frustrated the man says: "Put that cat on the phone, I need directions to get home!
