His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Bari ibn Awwad al-Thubaiti, may Allah preserve him, delivered the Friday khutbah entitled, “High-Mindedness,” in which he talked about the quality of high-mindedness, stating that it is necessary for Muslims to attain it, especially in our modern times. He referred to the common practice of many people on the internet, who post trivial video clips that bring no good at all but can cause a great deal of harm. It is reported by way of Jãbir bin `Abdillãh RA that he said: "Some weeping women came to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam), so the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: "Allãhumma sqinã ghaythan mugheethan, maree'an, maree`an, nãfi`an, ghayra dhãrrin, `ãjilan, ghayra 'ãjilãn" whereupon the sky covered them."

"O my Lord! Water us with a rain that will rescue us, be to our health, be abounding in herbage, be benificial to us not harmful [not destructive to pasture, etc.] and in haste not delay."

The above was a literal translation. "Whereupon the sky covered them" means that the gates of the sky opened with pouring showers.

250g butter or margarine
½ cup finely chopped almonds
¾ cup castor sugar
½ cup finely chopped pistachio nuts
1 Tbsp coffee powder
1 ½ cup cake flour
2 ½ cups jungle oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla essence

Method:
Mix butter, vanilla and castor sugar in electric mixer until smooth. Fold in the rest of the ingredients to make a firm dough. Roll out dough 7mm thick, scrape with folk, cut out squares 4cm 4cm. Place 2cm apart on baking tray and bake at 160C for 10 – 15 minutes until light brown.

FASTEN EIGHT

A grade school teacher asked her students to use the word fascinate" in a sentence.

Molly put up her hand and said, "My family went to my granddad's farm, and we all saw his pet sheep. It was fascinating."

The teacher said, "That was good, but I wanted you to use the word fascinate, not fascinating".

Sally raised her hand. She said, "My family went on a picnic and I was fascinated."

The teacher said, "Well, that was good Sally, but I wanted you to use the word "fascinate."

Little Johnny raised his hand. The teacher hesitated because she had been burned by Little Johnny before. She finally decided there was no way he could damage the word "fascinate", so she called on him. Johnny said,

"My uncle has a sweater with ten buttons, but his tummy is so big he can only "fasten eight"
