At the time of death turn the face towards the Qibla and the gathering that is present should say the Shahada LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH loudly in front of the dying person so that he may hear it and recite it. It is not Fard or Wajib to recite the Shahada at the time of death and if someone did not recite it, then it makes no difference.

It is stated in a Hadith that if the following are the last words of a dying person then he will enter Jannah (i.e. he will be saved from the punishment of sins and there will be no barrier from entering Jannah).

During the last moments a person from amongst those present should recite Surah Yaseen (as it eases death).

FISH INALMOND SAUCE

1 Kg fish
2 tsp ground garlic
1 tsp salt
½ tsp white pepper
1 tsp dhunia chutney
1 tsp green chillies
1 tsp ghee
2 Tbsp oil
3 Tbsp lemon juice
¼ cup blanched almonds
½ cup milk
2 Tbsp cream
¼ cup fresh bread crumbs

Marinate fish in lemon juice, good dash of salt and ground garlic for 30 min. keep in glass or oven proof casserole. Heat ghee and dhunia chutney together. To this add the green chillies, salt, white pepper and breadcrumbs, add milk to make a sauce. Pour sauce over marinating fish. Dribble with oil, cover casserole and bake in oven at 180 degrees for 30-40 min. Uncover casserole. Mix blanched ground almonds into cream and spread all over fish. Continue baking till almond topping begins to brown and sauce thickens. Serve surrounded with thin lemon slices and sprigs of parsley.

Farouk and Riaz from Lenz were in Laudium when they suddenly spotted this sign on a shop window:

Farouk said to his pal. "look at that! we could buy a whole load of those clothes... then when we get back we could resell them and make us a fortune!"

"Now listen, when we go into the shop you keep your big mouth shut, hey! Just you let me do all the talking plus wheeling and dealing stuff, because if they hear your Lenz accent, they might try to rip us off. I'll be giving them my best LAUDIUM accent so they think we're locals. "

They go in and Farouk says, "Excuse me sir, I'll take 50 of your finest suits at R20 each, plus 100 shirts at R10 each, and 50 pairs of your trousers at just R8 each. I will be paying in cash, and taking those items with me today, if you don't mind."

The owner of the shop interrupts, "You're from Lenz, right?"

Err....ja says Farouk, "how do you know?"

The owner says, "This is a dry-cleaner you idiot!"
