Surah Al-Hashr (The Mustering, Bringing together)

This Surah was revealed in Madinah, and it has 24 verses and 3 sections

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most Merciful

"He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." (59:24)

COMMENTARY: (...the Originator of all Shapes...59:24) In other words, He gives shape to everything He creates. He has given particular shapes to all creatures whereby they are distinguished from one another. Every species has a shape distinguishable from all other species. Within one species too, there are differences in shape between males and females. Then there are uncountable differences between the shapes of the individuals of even one gender. The excellence of shaping or fashioning is of such high degree that the shapes of zillions of men and women are different from one another in a way that no face is an absolute copy of some other face. Had it not been so, no one could be distinguished from the other. This excellence and perfection of creative power belongs to none but Allah. Just as Takabbur (show of greatness) is not permissible for anyone other than Allah [as Kibriya' is His exclusive attribute'], likewise no one, besides Allah, is permitted to do picture-making, because that too is the exclusive
characteristic of Allah, and picture-making is an implied claim of being associate with Allah in this attribute.

BUTTER NAAN

• 4 Cups Flour
• 1 x 10g sachet dry yeast
• 1 tsp salt
• 1tblsp sugar
• 1 ½ cups warm water
• 1 egg, lightly beaten
• 100g butter, melted
• Melted butter to brush

1. Combine flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a mixing bowl.
2. Mix water and egg together until well combined.
3. Add enough liquid to flour and mix to a soft dough.
4. Knead in the melted butter until dough is smooth.
5. Cover and leave to rise until doubled in size.
6. Punch down dough, knead for 1 minute and divide into 24 balls.
7. Working on a floured surface, roll each ball into a long stretched oval shape.
8. Heat a non-stick frying pan and place naan in. Cook on one side until bubbles begin to appear.
9. Turn Naan over onto a baking sheet and place under a griller until other side puffs up and blisters form.
10. Brush with melted butter and serve hot.
