Surah Al-Hashr (The Mustering, Bringing together)

This Surah was revealed in Madinah, and it has 24 verses and 3 sections

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most Merciful

" If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah . And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought..." 56:21

COMMENTARY: (Had We sent down this Quran to a mountain.... 56:21) This is a parable that Allah is using to illustrate the fact that if the Noble Quran were to be revealed on such strong, firm and unmovable mountain and endowed with intelligence like man, it would have submitted to the greatness of the Quran, nay, it would have crushed to pieces. But man is too selfish and proud. As a result, he has lost his natural intelligence and remains unaffected by the powerful message of the Quran. This, it would appear, is a hypothetical example, that is 'if mountains had sense or intelligence. Some scholars have stated that reason and revelation both bear testimony to the fact that everything in nature has sense, perception and intelligence, be it a mountain or a tree. Therefore, this is not a hypothetical example. It is a stark reality.

12 Medium potatoes
10ml baking powder
10 ml salt
50ml butter
Enough milk to make a mash of soft consistency.

Boil potatoes until soft . drain. Add baking powder, salt, butter & milk & mash till smooth. Spoon into piping bag. Pipe the mash into shape of round nest 700mmx 200mm on a greased baking tray. Bake @ 180 for 8-10 min. Leave to cool slightly before removing from baking tray. Fill with your favorite filling & serve.

DON’T BRIBE THE JUDGE

Taking his seat in his chambers, the judge faced the opposing lawyers. “So,” he said, “I have been presented, by both of you, with a bribe.” Both lawyers squirmed uncomfortably. “You, attorney Leon, gave me $15,000. And you, attorney Campos, gave me $10,000.”

The judge reached into his pocket and pulled out a check. He handed it to Leon… “Now then, I’m returning $5,000, and we’re going to decide this case solely on its merits.”
