AMAZING STORY ABOUT A MAN’S SUCCESS There was a man who grew high-quality maize in his large fields. Every year he took his excellent maize yield to the National food carnival where he won the Best yield award in Agriculture. One day a writer from a well-known magazine came to interview him about the techniques he employed to grow such award-winning maize. The Writer was surprised to hear the way he grew his maize. The man told the writer that he shared part of his maize seeds with the owners of his neighboring fields. The writer was astonished and asked him, “What on Earth makes you give your best-quality maize to your neighbors while they participate in the carnival alongside you.” “I simply don’t understand this”, said the writer. “Well”, said the man, “Don’t you know that this crop is insect and wind pollinated which means the insects and the wind transports the pollen from one crop to the other across the fields. If my neighbors grow low-quality and unhealthy crops then how can I expect my crops to grow healthy and of high-quality? For this reason I help my neighbors to grow good quality maize so that I can have good quality maize too” The explanation left the writer speechless and he was very much impressed by the wisdom of the man. He learned a great lesson that day. The same is true with our lives. Desire for others what you desire for yourself to succeed in this life and life hereafter. Sayyadina Anas ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu reports, “Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam celebrated the Waleemah of Safiyyah radiyallahu anha with dates and Saweeq (Sattu).” (TIRMIZI) Commentary: Saweeq (Sattu) is a drink made of parched barley. Sayyidatina Safiyyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab radiyallahu anha was from a Jewish family and from among the offsprings of Haroon alaihis salaam. In the year AH 7, after the Battle of Khaibar, Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam freed, and married her. Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam once said to her, “Your grandfather (Haroon alaihis salaam) was a prophet. Your (great) uncle (Musa alaihis salaam) was a prophet, and your husband is a prophet.” The Waleemah was made whilst on a journey. What was served in the
Waleemah? Different sayings are narrated in the Ahaadith. In some,
it is narrated that hays, which is a type of sweet dish, was served.
In some, cheese is mentioned. It is apparent that they were on a
journey and whatever was available, at breakfast time, in the possession
of Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam and his close
associates, was included in the Waleemah. |

| Vegetable
and Chicken Kebabs Preperation 2 cups cubed chicken fillet 1 tsp red ginger garlic masala 1 tsp fine dhania 1 tsp fine salt ½ tsp arad – turmeric 1 dessertspoon lemon juice Method Add the ingredients to chicken. Marinate and cook on medium heat until all the water has evaporated. Vegetable ingredients 1 ½ cups mixed vegetable – frozen ½ cup frozen whole corn ½ cup frozen peas 2 dessertspoons crushed green chillies 1 tsp fine dhania 1 tsp jeero 1.2 tsp black pepper 1 level dessertspoon lemon juice ½ cup greens – dhania, mint, spring onions – finely chopped 3 medium potatoes – boiled with skin, remove skin and mash Method Boil mixed vegetables, corn and peas, on medium heat approx 7 to 8 minutes. Remove, strain and dry the vegetables on a cloth. Mash vegetables slightly. It must not be fine. Add all the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add chicken and mash potatoes to vegetables and mix well. Make balls and flatten them slightly. Dip in egg and fry in hot oil. Shallow oil just covering the kebabs, or dip in egg and roll in crumbs and fry. |
