THE WOODMAN AND THE SERPENT One wintry day a Woodman was tramping home from his work when he saw something black lying on the snow. When he came closer he saw it was a Serpent to all appearance dead. But he took it up and put it in his bosom to warm while he hurried home. As soon as he got indoors he put the Serpent down on the hearth before the fire. The children watched it and saw it slowly come to life again. Then one of them stooped down to stroke it, but the Serpent raised its head and put out its fangs and was about to sting the child to death. So the Woodman seized his axe, and with one stroke cut the Serpent in two. ‘Ah,’ said he, ‘No gratitude from the wicked.’ |

Mousse pudding
1 ltr milk Make custard mixture: Heat milk Mix custard and cocoa into paste with water Add to heated milk and stir till thick. Remove custard – cocoa mixture from stove and add sugar and dissolved gelatin. Cool custard- cocoa mixture completely. Whip chilled ideal milk until stiff peaks form. Fold cooled of custard – cocoa mixture into whipped ideal milk. Pour into bowl and set in refrigerator. Decorate with cream (optional) |

A brilliant young boy was applying for a job with the railways. The interviewer asked him: "Do you know how to use the equipment?" "Yes", the boy replied. "Then what would you do if you realized that 2 trains, one from this station and one from the next were going to crash because they were on the same track?" The young applicant thought and replied "I'd press the button to change the points without hesitation." "What if the button was frozen and wouldn't work?" "I'd run outside and pull the lever to change the points manually" "And if the lever was broken?" "I'd get on the phone to the next station and tell them to change the points," he replied. "And if the phone was broken and needed an electrician to fix it?" The boy thought about that one. "I'd run into town and get my uncle" "Is your uncle an electrician?"
