RETIREMENT AND WORKING FOR ISLAM

His Eminence Sheikh Saleh ibn Abdullah ibn Humaid –may Allah protect him− delivered this Friday Khutbah entitled “Retirement and Working for Islam” in which he spoke about civil servants’ retirement at a certain age. He explained that the retiree is actually in a privileged position of which he should take advantage. He also added that by quitting his job, the retiree has not relinquished work altogether and is therefore not made redundant. On the contrary, he is expected to serve his religion and his community. The Sheikh equally offered advice to institutions, pointing out to the necessity of taking advantage of retirees’ efforts and previous experience in actions benefiting the whole Ummah.

Praise be to Allah! Praise be to Allah! Glory be to Him in His perfection. He is incomparable to any would-be analogous entity or peer! His awesome splendour is such that it resists visual perception and eschews full cognition. Greatness is His encompassing garment and grandeur is His uncontested attire. Whoever contests Him, will definitely be the loser and the uncared for. I praise Allah (May He be extolled) and thank him for His bounteous favours and prolific blessings.

O Muslims!

Life cannot be enjoyed without appreciating its sublime value, and its sublime value can never be perceived until the servant of Allah (Glory Be to Him) experiences the supremacy of the Creator and then contemplates the rationale behind creation as well as the fruit of continual activity and work. Only then could he be spared chaotic thinking leading to the loss of any sense of prioritising, distraction of the mind occasioned by accumulated worries, creeping anxiety, and pathological perplexity and bafflement. read more

But if he enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, Satan says (to his followers); `You have found (a place) to spend the night in, and if he does not mention the Name of Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: `You have found (a place) to spend the night in as well as food.''' Hi tech samoosa

½ kg chicken fillet cubed finely
1 onion finely chopped
2 tblsp lemon juice
1 tsp green masala
lemon pepper and black pepper
salt
Half red pepper (cubed)
half yellow pepper (cubed)
half green pepper (cubed)

Braise onion in ghee, add chicken and spices. When ¾ way done, add peppers.
Once mixture is cool add 2 tblsp sweet chilli sauce, 2 tblsp original chilli sauce, 2 tblsp wellington chilli sauce, 2 tblsp steers garlic sauce, half cup grated cheese, half bunch chopped dhania and spring onions. Fill like samoosas and dip in egg and breadcrumbs...check the sauces when u put it in... Maybe put 1 tblsp of each 1st, and see if u need more.

A CHILD’S LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING

Driving with my two young boys to a funeral, I tried to prepare them by talking about burial and what we believe happens after death. The boys behaved well during the Janaazah Salaah. But at the grave site I discovered my explanations weren’t as thorough as I’d thought.

In a loud voice, my four-year-old asked, "Dad, what’s in the box?"
