HADITH
(Traditions of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam)

Mu'adh bin Jabal (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam): "Inform me of an act which will cause me to enter Jannah and keep me far from Hell.'' He (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) replied, "You have asked me about a matter of great importance, but it is easy for one for whom Allah makes it easy.'' He added, "Worship Allah, associate nothing with Him in worship, offer As-Salaah (the prayer), pay the Zakaah, observe Saum (fasting) during Ramadan and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House of Allah, if you can afford it.'' He (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) further said, "Shall I not guide you to the gates of goodness? Fasting is a screen (from Hell), charity extinguishes (i.e., removes) the sins as water extinguishes fire, and standing in prayers by a servant of Allah during the last third part of the night.''…
…Then he asked, "Shall I tell you of that which holds all these things?'' I said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah.'' So he took hold of his tongue and said, "Keep this in control.'' I asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Shall we really be accounted for what we talk about?'' He replied, "People will be thrown on their faces into the Hell on account of their tongues.'' (TIRMIZI)

Commentary: Besides describing Articles of Islam, this Hadith mentions the dangers which lie in the careless use of the tongue. All good actions can go waste if one does not guard his speech. One should, therefore, guard his tongue against that which Allah has made prohibited.

* Pistorius murder trial enters 2nd week - Murder-accused Paralympian Oscar Pistorius's trial will enter its second week on Monday in the North Gauteng High Court.

* KZN tollgates to accept e-tags - Toll plazas in KwaZulu-Natal are being equipped to accept e-tags as the South African National Roads Agency Limiited prepares for the national roll out of electronic tolling.

* No power cuts expected - Eskom was not expecting any power cuts next week, although the system would still be tight, it said on Sunday.

* Missing plane may have disintegrated - Officials investigating the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jetliner with 239 people on board suspect it may have disintegrated in mid-flight, a senior source said on Sunday, as Vietnam reported a possible sighting of wreckage from the plane.

* Putin defends Crimea moves - Russian President Vladimir Putin defended breakaway moves by the pro-Russian leaders of Crimea on Sunday in a phone call with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron, according to the Kremlin.

No poet, no poetry can ever do justice to this marvelous creation of ALLAH.

RECIPE

Spinach rolls recipe

1 bunch spinach washed and cleaned.
Neatly slice out the middle vein, leaving the leaf whole
½ kg cooked chicken filling of choice
1 egg whisked with salt and fine red chillies

Method:

• Lay all spinach leaves flat
• Brush with egg mixture
• Place 1 tblsp or more of chicken filling on each leaf, depending on the size of the leaf.
• Roll each leaf closed like a spring roll, making sure all the sides are closed
• At the end pierce it close with a clove.
• Place all spinach rolls in a pot and steam on low for 15 to 20 minutes until the colour of the leaves change
• Lightly brush both sides with olive oil and fry for just a minute on each side.
• Serve hot with puri and chutney
