The Fox and the Crow

A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. ‘That’s for me, as I am a Fox,’ said Master FOX, and he walked up to the foot of the tree. ‘Good-day, Mistress Crow,’ he cried. ‘How well you are looking to-day: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may greet you as the Queen of Birds.’ The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by Master Fox. ‘That will do,’ said he. ‘That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future.

Commentary: In this we find the high character of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and his love for little children. The height of humbleness is that he did not avoid putting infants on his lap.

In a Hadith it is stated that: "He (Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) also made Dua of Barakah for me."

From this it is evident that children were taken to the pious elders and were asked to choose a name for them. In other Ahaadith it has also been related that the Sahaabah Radiyallahu Anhum took their new born infants to Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

MEAT LOAF

1Kg chicken fillets - 4 slices bread - 1 tablespoon jeeroo - 1 tablespoon dhania - 3 eggs - 2 medium onions - 1 bunch fresh dhania - 10 fresh green chillies - 12 cloves garlic - 1 level teaspoon baking powder - 2 tablespoons ghee or oil - 4 tablespoons lemon juice - beaten egg – breadcrumbs.

Combine all the ingredients together in a food processor and process until fine. Pat into two greased loaf pans and bake in a moderate oven for 30-40 minutes. Cut into 1cm slices. Dip in egg and breadcrumbs. Shallow –fry in hot oil until golden brown.

THE MOST ANNOYING ENGLISH PHRASES

"Thanks in advance": This demeaning management phrase, often accompanying some unwanted assignment, is the polite corporate way of saying, "You'd better do this terrible thing or I'll eat your paycheque."

Instead: Cut to the chase with, "I know you don't want to do this... in advance."

"With all due respect": Almost always coupled with an insult or unsolicited advice, this phrase is a smarmier way to say, "Prepare to be disrespected." Examples include: "With all due respect, you're fired."

Instead: Eliminate the preamble. If you're going to say something that others might find offensive, just say it or keep quiet.
