THE SAND CASTLE AND THE WAVES One day Abdullah, a young man, had a fight with his wife and was really upset over the matter. He decided to go to the sea shore to spend some time and relax. When Abdullah was sitting on the beach he saw two children, a boy and a girl, playing in the sand. They were busy building a detailed sandcastle by the water’s edge with several gates and passages and towers and fosse. Just when they were almost done building their beautiful castle, a big wave came along and knocked it down, reducing it to a heap of wet sand. Abdullah saw this and he expected the children to burst into tears, ravaged and devastated by what had happened to their beautiful castle they spent all the time and energy working on, but Abdullah saw something else. The sight surprised Abdullah. Instead of crying, the two little children ran up the shore away from the water, laughing and holding hands, and sat down to build another castle. The little children taught Abdullah a great lesson. He realized that all the things in our lives, all the complicated structures we spend so much time and energy creating, are indeed built on sand and are bound to be destroyed someday. He ran home and apologized to her wife and expressed his love for her. Moral of the Story: Only our relationships to other people remain. Sooner or later, the wave will come along and knock down all our possessions that we acquired through all the hard work. When that happens, only the person who has somebody’s hand to hold will be able to laugh. Take care of your relationships before it’s too late. Express your love and respect to your near and dear ones before the wave comes along. |

Commentary: In a narration in Sahih Muslim regarding
Monday, it has been stated that "I was born on a Monday; the
revealing of the Quran to me also began on a Monday". In one
Hadith it is stated that "Allah Ta'alah forgives the sins of
every Muslim (provided the rules apply) on Mondays and Thursdays".

| Vegetable
and chicken kebabs Preperation 2 cups cubed chicken fillet 1 tsp red ginger garlic masala 1 tsp fine dhania 1 tsp fine salt ½ tsp arad – turmeric 1 dessertspoon lemon juice Method: Add the ingredients to chicken. Marinate and cook on medium heat until all the water has evaporated. Vegetable ingredients 1 ½ cups mixed vegetable – frozen ½ cup frozen whole corn ½ cup frozen peas 2 dessertspoons crushed green chillies 1 tsp fine dhania 1 tsp jeero 1.2 tsp black pepper 1 level dessertspoon lemon juice ½ cup greens – dhania, mint, spring onions – finely chopped 3 medium potatoes – boiled with skin, remove skin and mash Method: Boil mixed vegetables, corn and peas, on medium heat approx 7 to 8 minutes. Remove, strain and dry the vegetables on a cloth. Mash vegetables slightly. It must not be fine. Add all the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add chicken and mash potatoes to vegetables and mix well. Make balls and flatten them slightly. Dip in egg and fry in hot oil. Shallow oil just covering the kebabs, or dip in egg and roll in crumbs and fry |

A mathematician, a physicist, and an engineer are at a hotel one night sleeping after the first day of a conference. A disgruntled hotel employee decides to get even with the management. He goes to a floor where there is nobody in the hallway. He drops a lit match into a trash can in the hallway. The engineer wakes up and smells smoke. He goes out into the hallway and sees a fire, so he fills his trash can from his room with water and douses the fire. He goes back to bed. The disgruntled hotel employee found another trash can in the hallway and drops a lit match into it. Later, the physicist wakes up and smells smoke. He opens his door and sees a fire in the hallway. He walks down the hall to a fire-hose and after calculating the flame distance, water pressure, trajectory, etc. extinguishes the fire with the minimum amount of water and energy needed. He goes back to bed. This hotel employee then drops some trash paper and a lit match into the same trash can in the hallway. Then the mathematician wakes up and smells smoke. He goes to the hallway, sees a fire and then the fire-hose. He thinks for a moment and then exclaims, "Ah, a solution exists!!" and then goes back to bed. You can guess what happened after that.
