Jarir bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) asked me on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage to tell the people to keep silent, then he (Peace Be Upon Him) said, "Do not revert to disbelief after me, chopping the heads of one another.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Commentary: Commenting on this Hadith, Imam An-Nawawi RA has mentioned that one is allowed to lend ear to somebody if he has something reasonable to say. This will not be considered as eavesdropping which is unallowable on doctrinal basis. Secondly, silence is a prerequisite of setting ears to a sermon. And a Khatib (one who delivers a sermon) is perfectly justified if he asks his audience to observe silence so as to be able to listen to him in real earnest. |

salb cake Ingredients 4 eggs 1 ¼ cups sugar ½ cup oil 1 tsp vanilla essence ¾ cup water 1 ¾ cup self raising flour 2 ½ tblsp cocoa powder 1 ½ tsp baking powder Method: • Beat eggs and sugar well. • Add vanilla essence, oil and water and mix well. • Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder and add to above ingredients. • Pour mixture into a well greased baking pan 25cm x 36cm, and bake at 180c for 30 minutes. • When cool ice with icing of choice. |
