His eminence Sheikh Saleh Bin Muhammad Al-Taleb ?may Allah protect him?delivered this Friday’s Khutbah titled “High Aspiration.” He dealt with the notion of high-aspiring character and stressed the need for acquiring the merits of this quality and departing from debasement. He also pointed out the necessity to take as our reference the pure and inexhaustible source of inspiration: namely, Allah’s Sacred Book (Qur'an) and His Prophet’s (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) Sunnah so that the Ummah could get out of the crises and pitfalls it has experienced.

Praise be to Allah (Ta'ala), the Creator of all living creatures and the All-Knower. He preordained that His devout worshippers should be privileged over all creatures so that they would serve as exemplary models like lofty towers, and their faith would render them distinguished in the entire world. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship save Allah, with no associate ?a testimony free of any scepticism or contention? and I bear witness that Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) is His servant and Messenger, the best creature who ever tread on earth. May Allah send His Salat (Graces, Honours, and Mercy) and Peace on His Messenger Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam), on his Companions, so brave and heroic, like lions, on his tabi'In (the contemporaries of the Companions of the Prophet [Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam] after his death), and on all those who have followed them in righteousness till the Day of Judgment.

Having said that, I advise you to fear Allah and hold fast to His firmest bond: "O you who believe! Fear Allah (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islam [as Muslims (with complete submission to Allah)]." [al-Imran: 102] read more

Abu Salamata bin Abdurrahmaan said: I heard Qataada son of Rib`iy say: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Ru’ya (a good dream) is from Allah, and Hulm (nightmare) is from the Shaytaan, so if one of you sees something he hates, let him spittle to his left three times when he awakens, and let him seek protection in Allah from its evil, for, Allah willing, it will not harm him."

Abu Salamata said: I used to consider a Ru'ya heavier upon me than a mountain, then when I heard this Hadeeth, I became dis-concerned, and in one narration "He said: I used to see Ru'ya’s as cause for concern, until I heard Aba Qataada say: I used to see Ru'ya’s and they would make me sick, until I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "The good Ru'ya is from Allah, so if one of you sees what he likes, then he should not tell anyone about it except those whom he loves, and if he sees something he hates, then he should tell no one of it, and he should spit to his left three times, and solicit Allah's protection from the despicable Shaytaan from the evil of what he saw, for it will not harm him.

KHOWSE – CHICKEN AND COCONUT SOUP

Ingredients
½ chicken cut into 10 pieces - 1 medium onion thinly sliced - 2 tblsp ghee - 1 cinnamon stick - 1 cardamom pod - 2 cloves - ½ tsp ginger/garlic paste - ½ tsp chillie powder - ½ tsp coriander cumin powder - ¼ tsp turmeric - salt to taste - ¼ cup water - 1 tblsp gram flour - 1 ½ lts milk - ½ cup desiccated coconut - 1 tblsp chopped - coriander leaves - 1 tblsp crushed chillies - 250g spaghetti broken into small pieces - Samoosa or spring roll pastry cut into thin strips.

Method
Saute onion cinnamon cardamom and cloves in ghee until onion is soft. Add chicken ginger garlic chilli powder coriander cumin powder turmeric and salt. Braise well lower heat and cook till chicken is tender. Mix water and gram flour to a paste and add to chicken. Braise for one minuet. Stir in Milk and coconut and simmer for 10/15 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves. Deep fry pastry strips until golden brown and crispy. Roast the crushed chillies in a pan until brown in colour.

To serve: Place the soup in the centre of the table and place the accompaniments around.
