AL-IMDAAD
FOUNDATION
Al-Imdaad Foundation – INSIDE SYRIA - Help us build the first containerised village inside Syria.
In order to help the Syrian people who try to cling to life under very difficult circumstances, the Al-Imdaad Foundation is appealing to you to support the establishment of a fully functional containerised village inside Syria to care for widows, orphans and families who have lost everything. The village will cater for their every need. Families will be provided with mattresses, clothing, blankets, kitchen utensils, hygiene kits and freshly cooked food twice a day. This village will also have a Masjid, free schooling for children and segregated toilet facilities as well as permanent supply of water. Your Zakaat for displaced Syrian families is welcome. Lillah is required for the Masjid and school facilities of this village.

ADDING
THE GREEN ASPECT TO YOUR RAMADHAAN - A TIP OR TWO |
Save
water! Fast! - Just joking. I doubt not drinking water during the
day counts as saving water...
SAVING
WATER
The
Ramadhaan rhythm has set in. After an entire day of not drinking
(even if its winter) one can't help but appreciate the importance
of water.
Allah
(SWT) speaks of the value of this resource that he has blessed us
with and made us dependent on in several places of the Qurans. One
example is that in Surah Waqiah (a surah we are recommended to read
daily) where Allah (SWT) says: “See you the water which you
drink? Do you bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? Were
it Our Will, We could make it saltish. Then why do you not give
thanks?” (Qur’an, Ch56, V68-70).
The
Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) emphasised the saving
of water even whilst using it. It is reported that Prophet (Sallallahu
Alayhi Wa Sallam) saw Sa’d (RA) performing Wudu he said: “What
is this? You are wasting water.” Sa’d replied: "Can
there be wastefulness while performing ablution?" The Prophet
(Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) replied: “Yes even if you perform
it in a flowing river.” (Ibn Maja : 1990 : Vol. 1: 147: no.425).
So
here are some tips, that if made with good intentions, Allah may
reward us for our efforts:
-
When rinsing out fruit and veggies, collect the water in a dish.
Use it to wash out dirty dishes, mop the floors or even water the
plants.
-
Cook with you pot covered when possible, less energy wasted, less
water used.
-
Fill up a bucket of warm water for Wudhu instead of leaving the
hot water tap running, and see how much water you save by scooping
water the old fashioned way. Better still, take the bucket outside
and make wudhu amongst the backyard vegetables.
-
If the bucket-Wudhu proves difficult remember: Say Bismillah, don't
leave the tap running especially during masah, and complete your
wudhu as quick as possible without talking. Win-win situation, follow
the Sunnah way and save water!
-
Many of us are reluctant to bucket shower these day. The easiest
way to save water whilst showering - wet your body, close the tap,
lather with soap, and then rinse off quickly.
-
After a long period of sitting down and reading Quraan, take a walk
around your house and make a note of any dripping taps and possible
pipe leaks - fix them up or call a plumber!
May
Allah guide our intentions and accept all our good actions this
month.
Shukran

NOT
SO HELPFUL
The
elevator in our building malfunctioned one day, leaving several
of us stranded. Seeing a sign that listed two emergency phone numbers,
I dialed the first and explained our situation.
After
what seemed to be a very long silence, the voice on the other end
said, "I don't know what you expect me to do for you; I'm a
psychologist."
"A
psychologist?" I replied. "Your phone is listed here as
an emergency number. Can't you help us?"
"Well,"
he finally responded in a measured tone. "How do you feel about
being stuck in an elevator?"
