We all go through thick and thin. Nobody can assert to be living an ‘Alice in wonderland’ life, for no one is deprived from hardships. But who would not like to get into the skin of Alice for a moment. Yet, life is nothing akin to it and our purpose here is not to be living a fairy tale life but to pass a far greater test. And Allah SWT has never said that life will be doodle to handle.

“It is He who has made you successors on the earth, and raised some of you in rank above others so that He may test you in respect to what He has given you. Indeed your Lord is swift in retribution, and indeed He is all-forgiving, all-merciful.” (6:165)

During the moments of hardship where our vanity and anxiety would make tasks sturdy, we desperately wish for things to be different as we ofttimes cannot see the ‘why’ things happen the way they do. However, Allah knows what is best for us and even in hardships we must say Alhamdulillah, as it acts as a cleanser that expiates our sins and purify our heart. And Allah SWT does not inflict us with something that we cannot bear. He knows what is in our heart, and He tests us according to our level of Iman.

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said: 'Trials will continue to befall the believing man and woman, with regard to themselves, their children and their wealth, until they meet Allah with no sin on them.' (Tirmidhi)

When Allah SWT in His infinite wisdom tests us with a situation which we find difficult or takes away something that we think is good for us might not always be the case. If Allah does not grant us the thing that we want, there is no need to antagonize or be depressed about it. Just remain patient and have faith and trust that Allah SWT will grant you something better in return as He is All- wise and All-Knowing. Read more

TENNIS BALL TIPS

Make parking your car easier: If you have an indoor garage, just hang a tennis ball on a string from the roof so it will hit the windscreen at the spot where you should stop your car.

Use it as a lint-remover: You can make sure fluff and lint won’t collect on your clothes (while in the dryer) by adding two or three tennis balls while the clothes are tumbling.

Hide valuable jewellery or money: Make a small slit along one seam of the tennis ball, then place valuables inside. Hide the ‘special’ tennis ball among your other sports equipment... Just remember not to use it!

Qr Muhammad Saleh Peck, who's a teacher at Darul Uloom Zakariyya, an institute for Islamic Sciences based in South Africa, anchors the Shafi Fiqh programme which Airs on Sunday mornings 11.30am CAT. This is a programme designed to address various issues in accordance to the Shafi Math'hab, or Shafi School of Thought. Some of the topics to be covered by Qr Saleh would include Taharah/Cleanliness, Salaah, Fasting, Haj, etc.

Qr Saleh, in this programme, under the subject Taharah/Purity or Cleanliness, discussed Wuthu or Ablution. The word Wuthu, as Qr Saleh explained, in technical terminology of Shari`ah is to wash certain parts of the body with water, with the intention of Ibadah.

Qr Saleh mentioned the legal basis for performing Wuthu as stipulated in the Glorious Qur`an; “O people of Imaan! When you prepare yourself for Salaah then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows and wipe your heads and wash your feet up to the ankle.” (S5:V6) In the Hadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu`Alayhi Wa Sallam narrated by Imam Muslim Rahimahullah, “Salaah will not be accepted without purification (wuthu).”

The Faraaidh of Wuthu was also discussed as well as other Masaail according to the Shafi Mathab…

SAVOURY PANCAKES
Marinate cubed chicken in fresh garlic, black pepper, green masala, whole jeeru and dry dhnana- arad (optional). Braise 2 onions till pink, add garlic flakes and meat and cook till done.

Once cooked add ½ cup garlic sauce (steer's) and leave to simmer for a while. When cool ass greens. White sauce or mushroom sauce can also be added.

Pan Cakes
1 cup flour. 1 cup milk. 2 eggs. ½ cup water. 3 tsps soft butter or ghee. 1 tsp baking powder. Salt to taste.

Method
Mix all ingredients together. Make pancakes to the size of a side plate. Put filling in middle, top with chutney & cheese and seal completely. Dip in egg and breadcrumbs and fry.

Finally, he says "I'm going to have to put him down."

"What? Because he's cross-eyed?"
