HADITH
(Traditions
of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) |
Ali bin Abu Talib (May Allah be pleased with him)reported: The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) used to perform four Rak`ah before the Asr prayer, separating them with Taslim (i.e., offering blessings) on the favourite angels who are near Allah's proximity and the Muslims and the believers who come after them. [At-Tirmidhi]
Commentary: These four Rak`ah can be performed in two couplets also, as was the practice of the Prophet (Sallallhu Alayhi Wa Sallam), according to the preceding Hadith. It can be performed with one Taslim also. Both forms are correct and permissible. Some scholars are of the opinion that the former method is better. Ulama' have stated that these four Sunnah of Asr prayer are Ghair Mu'akkadah (optional prayers). Its importance is however evident from the fact that the Prophet (Sallallhu Alayhi Wa Sallam) prayed for mercy on those who performed these Sunnah. |

THE SMILE |
A Japanese tourist hailed a taxi in downtown Delhi and asked to be taken to the Indira Gandhi airport.
On the way, a car zoomed by and the tourist responded, 'Oh! Toyota - Made in Japan! Very fast!'
Not too long afterward, another car flew by the taxi. 'Oh! Nissan - Made in Japan! Very fast!' Then yet another car zipped by, and the tourist said, 'Oh! Mitsubishi - Made in Japan! Very fast!'
The taxi driver, who was 100% Indian, was starting to get a little annoyed that the Japanese made cars were passing his taxi, when yet another car passed the taxi as they were turning into the airport. 'Oh! Honda - Made in Japan! Very fast!'
The taxi driver stopped the car, pointed to the meter, and said, 'That'll be Rupees 500.'
'Rupees 500? It was short ride! Why so much?'
The Taxi driver smiled as he replied, 'Meter - Made in India. Very fast.'
