As we come to the close of Ramadhaan 1434, a month of devotion, submission, obedience and sacrifice, we reflect and thank the Almighty Allah for having given us the strength to strive against the carnal self during the blessed month of Ramadhaan. The Almighty in turn promises forgiveness for the dutiful servant, who diligently discharged the obligations of fasting, prayer and charity during the preceding thirty days.

When we are in a state of prayers and worship, we open our hearts for others and remember our brothers and sisters in our prayers. Remembering the saying of our Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam:

“The supplication that gets the quickest answer is the one made by one Muslim for another in his absence.” Reported by Abu Daw’ud and Tirmidhi

May ALLAH (SWT) accept all of our fast, our ibdaah, Duaas and other acts of worship and reward our efforts. Inshaa'Allah.

Ingredients:
1 and a ¼ cup flour
¾ cup sugar
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
½ tsp cocoa
½ tsp salt
½ cup buttermilk
1 egg
¾ cup oil
½ tsp vinegar
½ tsp vanilla essence
1 TBlSP red food coloring

Method:
Sift dry ingredients. combine liquids, Mix dry ingredients into the wet ones, bake at 180 for 15-20 mins.

Icing:
Beat half a tub of cream cheese smooth. Add a ¼ tsp of vanilla essence, and a ¼ cup of sifted icing sugar and beat smooth. Gradually add 1/3 of a cup of fresh or double cream and whip till mixture is a pipable texture.Top with a crystallized rose petal, or two.

MOVING WITH THE SEASON

Louie and his wife are listening to the radio when they hear the weather report: "A snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the odd-numbered side of the street.” So Louie gets up and moves his car.

Two days later – the same thing. "A snow emergency has been declared,” blares the radio. "Park your cars on the even-numbered side of the street.” Louie gets up and does what he’s told.

Three days later: "There will be a foot of snow today. Park your cars on the …,” and then the power goes out.

"What should I do?” a confused Louie asks his wife.

"This time,” she says, "why don’t you just leave the car in the garage?”
