Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-aas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: We were repairing our thatchy hut when the Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) passed by and asked us, "What are you doing?'' We said, "The thatch had gone weak and we are repairing it.'' He (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, "I see the sure thing (death) approaching sooner than this.'' [Abu Dawud]
Commentary:
The Hadith reminds us to be mindful of death at all times and be certain
that there is nothing nearer to us than it. It also tells us that we
should not engage in those worldly things which are bound to make us
forget about our appointed term in this world.
We are living in a society where there’s a great effort to impress upon us the importance of that which is apparent and tangible. For this reason, mankind utilises its maximum capabilities to address the needs and necessities of this world only, this life which is extremely short in comparison to the life to come. Ml Katani mentioned that, unfortunately, this ‘legacy of loss’ is then passed on from parents to children. IRANIAN KEBAB
Ingredients
½ kilo chicken Fillet - 1 medium onion ½ cup lemon juice
- 2 tblsp Olive oil - 1 tsp crushed garlic - 2 tsp ground green chillies
- 1 ½ tsp crushed jeeru - 1 tsp crushed dhana - 1 tsp salt - ¼
tsp cinnamon - ¼ cup fresh parsley finely chopped - ¼ cup
fresh dhania leaves finely chopped.
Method
Cut fillet into cubes. Process onion lemon juice olive oil garlic and
pour into a bowl. Add spices parsley and coriander leaves to onion marinade.
Combine marinade and fillet and leave overnight. Thread 2/3 pieces of
chicken cubes onto a toothpick or on a long skewer. Cook on a non stick
pan or barbecue until done.
