I thank Allah Ta'aala for having bestowed me with the opportunity to visit Somalia with the Al Imdaad Foundation. Indeed, it proved to be an eye opener that will forever remind me of the bounties i am blessed with and irrespective of what difficulties I have, there are people worst off. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has said: "He who does not thank man cannot thank Allah". I therefore take this opportunity to thank the Al Imdaad Foundation for giving me the opportunity to witness first hand how the publics funds are being utilised and distributed. May Allah Ta'aala accept the efforts of the Al Imdaad Foundation and take them from strenght to strenght. Ameen.

Its
buildings covered with bullet scars
For a reminder of what was
Its
roads dusty with bloodshed soil
To spark a memory of that heartbreaking toil
Its
people live in fear and pain
Puzzled and wondering when will it rain
Its
mothers due to malnutrition dies
Their babies in confusion cries
But
Somalia’s hearts holds onto a rope
That gives me the impression they will never lose hope
Their
content faces puts forth a smile
The warmth of which is felt from a mile
Never
lose hope, never cry never fear
O Somalia help is near
Never
despondent on the ground should you just lay
O Somalia the rains are not far away

In another similar narration, it is said that Allah Ta'aala withholds rain from such people. (Tabrani, Hakim, Baihaqi)
Ali Radiyallahu Anhu narrates that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam said: “In the wealth of rich Muslims the amount which is sufficient for the poor among the Muslims has been made obligatory. The hardships of the poor regarding food and garments are because of the deeds of the wealthy (i.e. their refusal to pay proper Zakah). Beware! Allah Ta'aala will demand a stern reckoning from them and mete out a painful punishment." (Tabrani, Ausat, Sagheer)
In another hadith which further explains the above hadith, it is said that the poor on the Day of Qiyamah will complain to Allah Ta'aala that the wealthy did not discharge 'our' (the poor's) rights which Allah Ta'aala had ordained as obligatory. Allah Ta'aala will then reply, “I take an oath My Grandeur and Might that I will grant you proximity to Me and remove them (the wealthy) far from me." (Tabrani, Sagheer, Ausat)

STAPLE DIET IN THE SOMALIAN CAMPS
Requirements:
Water
Flour
Piece of metal
Matches
Few pieces of wood
Method:
Gather a few pieces of wood and ignite with matches. Allow to heat. Place a piece of metal (lid of a pot) on the fire. Place a little flour on the metal and make a paste by mixing with some water. Spread evenly like Roti and allow to dry.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve with humility, gratitude and a smile just like somalia's people.
A 10 year old girl was making this in one of the camps for her mum and nine siblings.
