ALLAHU
AKBAR (Allah is the Greatest)

It is the first thing that a Muslim infant hears. It is the last thing that a Muslim Mayyit (corpse) ‘hears’. It is the first thing that a Muslim says in every Salah as he presents himself before his Creator; at least five times daily.
So what does this signify? Let us take the Salah which begins with this phrase – Allahu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest. This is called the Takbeer-ut-Tahreema: The Takbir which makes everything else Haraam. Consequently if a Muslim in standing in Salah and someone greets him, he will not return the greeting even though under all other situations, returning the greeting (Salam) of a Muslim is compulsory. But when he has said, ‘Allahu Akbar’ and is standing in Salah, all others except Allah cease to exist for him. He has dedicated himself to Allah, is obedient only to Him, ignores everyone and everything else and submits himself to Allah with complete concentration and devotion.
After the Salah, this is the lesson for the Muslim to take back – that there is only one criterion of right and wrong in Islam – Does this please Allah? Because only Allah is Akbar. So as in Salah, if there is anything that takes him away from Allah he ignores it and will not follow it and will maintain his devotion to Allah. Whenever he is faced with any decision in life he reminds himself – Allahu Akbar – and then takes the decision. He does only what is pleasing to Allah and leaves what is displeasing to Him, no matter who else this may please or offend.
Life is actually very simple. We are the ones who complicate it. There is only one thing we need to keep in mind to become winners – does this please Allah? When the Muslim reminds himself – Allahu Akbar – s/he is remembering that everyone and everything other than Allah is not Akbar. Everyone and everything else is powerless to benefit or harm and is only there to be used to gain the pleasure of Allah. Not to be used to displease Allah . For it is Allah who we will meet on the Day of which He is the Owner, the King, the One who will decide whether we go into everlasting joy or everlasting torment. Allahu Akbar.
SALAATUT TAUBAH

If a person does something contrary to the Shariah, he should offer two Rakaats of Nafl salaat and thereafter repent to Allah Ta'ala with full devotion and humility. He should also express his regret for committing that sin. He should seek forgiveness from Allah Ta'ala and make a firm intention that he will not commit that sin in the future. Through the virtue and bounty of Allah Ta'ala, that sin will be forgiven.

* IEC promises transparency - The IEC has promised transparency in the counting of votes in the May 18 local government elections. SOUR SWEET ACHAAR

Ingredients
2 tsp arad (turmeric) - 25 mangoes - 5 tblsp methi masala - 2 tblsp mustard
powder - 1 tblsp sesame seeds - 125g amli (tamarind) - 2 cups vinegar
- 2 cups sugar - 1 cup oil.
Method
Wash and pat dry mangoes. Peel and cut in convenient pieces. Put sugar,
vinegar and tamarind in AMC or enamel pot – stir well and bring to a boil
- Remove from stove when tamarind is soft and sugar is dissolved - Strain
to remove fibres. Pour syrup over mangoes - While syrup is boiling, mix
mangoes with mustard and methi masala and add to bowl - Adjust colour
with turmeric - Fry sesame seeds in oil and add to mangoes - Bottle when
cool – this pickle keeps well.
