SURAH NOOH 71: (Prophet Nooh Alaihis Salaam)
This
Surah is Makki. It has 28 verses and 2 sections.
With the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Very- Merciful
"He will send rain to you in torrents…" [11] "…increase your wealth, your sons and make orchards and rivers for you" [12] "What is the matter with you that you are not convinced of Allah's majesty…" [13] "…when He has created you in so many phases" [14]
COMMENTARY: In the previous lesson, mention was made of Nooh Alaihis Salaam speaking to Allah Ta'aala and informing Him that after making effort on his people, they rejected him. They did not accept the message even though Nooh Alaihis Salaam spoke to them collectively and individually. We also mentioned that Nooh Alaihis Salaam never harshly criticized their wrongs but rather spoke of Allah's greatness.
This weeks lesson continues with Nooh Alaihis Salaam explaining exactly what manner was adopted to invite His people to the oneness of Allah Ta'aala. He explained to His people that when you will believe in Allah, then Allah will be pleased and as a result you will be granted favourable conditions. You will enjoy abundant rain, wealth and many other resources so that you will be successful in this life as well as in the hereafter. Nooh Alaihis Salaam asked how is it possible that you do not believe in Allah when your formation in stages is a miracle i.e. first a drop of liquid, then a blood cloth, then a piece of flesh etc. Once again in todays verses, we learn that when we invite others to this beautiful Deen, we should never speak of their faults and if its necessary to speak of punishment etc. then we should speak very little in that regard. Majority of our speech should be focusing on Allah's greatness. We should mention that accepting Islam is not the end of this world in terms of happiness and comfort. In fact, life will be better because Allah Ta'aala will grant you many favours. This is the message that Nooh Alaihis Salaam put forward in the 11th and 12th verse. We should also speak of Allah Ta'aala's immense power as Nooh Alaihis Salaam done in verse 13 and 14.

Ya Nafs (Oh Soul) how soon you forget,
After trials come Sweet Relief.
Why
turn you from Ar-Rahman?
Why yearn for a listening friend?
Ya Nafs, do you not remember,
On Allah you must depend?
Have
you not read those stories,
Of the trials in days gone by
Of the Sahaba beloved by Allah
Who for Allah's cause did strive?
Why
loosen your hold upon Him?
Why fling away, His outstretched Hand?
Ya Nafs do you not remember,
Bilal's Sabr on the blazing sand?
"Ahad! Ahad!" He cried,
While his flesh did drip and burn.
"Ahad! Ahad!" He cried,
To ALLAH alone he turned.
Have
you forgotten the firmness of Hamza,
As the gleaming swords did fall?
With Sabr he turned to Allah,
As the Quraish did Slice and Maul?
Why
drown in salty Tear Drops?
How can you dare compare your pain?
To that of Yasir and Summayah,
As they lay tortured on the scorching plain?
Have
you forgotten the charring of Khabbab,
As on burning Coals he lay?
Ya Nafs how meager your suffering,
Wherefore do you lose your way ?
Be
patient in all your hardships,
Allah hears your cries of woe.
So trust Him and His Hikmah,
For He knows Best & you do not know.
So
tighten your hold upon Him,
Lest He withdraw His outstretched Hand!
And remember the example of Bilal,
As he lay anchored on the blazing sand.
"Ahad!
Ahad!" he cried,
Whilst his flesh did drip and burn.
"Ahad! Ahad!" he cried,
To ALLAH alone he Turned.

STEAK
& KIDNEY PIE
Ingredients
¾ kg steak cubed- ¼ kg kidneys (lamb) - 2 tblsp butter -
1 onion chopped - 3 tsps crushed garlic - 2 tsps crushed green chillies
- Salt to taste - 1 tblsp lemon juice - 1 tblsp lemon pepper.
Method
Cook steak and all ingredients on a low heat until tender and until ½
cup liquid is left. Add 3tblsp cake flour and cook until thick. Remove
from heat allow cooling. Put filling into pastry shell. Makes one big
pie or small ones.

Chase away joint and headache pain with cherries
Latest studies show that at least one in four women is struggling with arthritis, gout or chronic headaches. If you're one of them, a daily bowl of cherries could ease your ache, without the stomach upset so often triggered by today's painkillers, say researchers at East Lansing's Michigan State University. Their research reveals that anthocyanins, the compounds that give cherries their brilliant red color, are anti-inflammatories 10 times stronger than ibuprofen and aspirin. "Anthocyanins help shut down the powerful enzymes that kick-start tissue inflammation, so they can prevent, as well as treat, many different kinds of pain," explains Muraleedharan Nair, Ph.D., professor of food science at Michigan State University. His advice: Enjoy 20 cherries (fresh, frozen or dried) daily, then continue until your pain disappears.
