Abu huraira Radiyallahu anhu narrates that someone started swearing Abu Bakr Radiyallahu Anhu while Nabi sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam was sitting there. Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam was impressed and kept smiling (because Abu Bakr Radiyallahu Anhu gave no reply to the verbal abuse). However, when the person's abuse became too much, Abu Bakr Radiyallahu Anhu replied to some of what he was saying. This angered Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam and he left.
Abu Bakr Radiyallahu Anhu then met Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam and asked, "O Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam) you were sitting there while he was swearing at me but when I replied to some of his abuse you became angry and left?" Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam replied, "There was an angel with you who was responding on your behalf. However, when you started replying to some of his abuse, Shaytaan arrived and I could not sit with Shaytaan."
Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam then added, "O Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu)! Three things are absolute facts. Whenever a person overlooks any injustice done to him, Allah lends him tremendous strength. Whenever a person opens the door of gifts with the intention of joining ties, Allah increases for him in abundance. Whenever a person opens the door of begging with the intention of amassing wealth, Allah speeds up the reduction of his wealth."
SUNNATS OF A GATHERING
The following does not only apply to an Islamic gathering but can be implemented in all types of gatherings.
Effort should be made that Allah Ta'aala is remembered in every gathering and Durud Sharif is recited at least once in the gathering. Hereunder are a few Sunnan (Plural of Sunnah) taken from Hadeeth:

It is not permissible for a person to sit, in a gathering, between 2
people without their permission. (Tirmizi)
* It is incorrect to remove any person from his seat and sit in his
place. (Bukhaari)
* Sit close together and not far apart. (Abu Dawud)
* If any person comes into a gathering, then out of respect, one should
make place for him. This will make the new comer feel accepted (It is
therefore advised even if there is place in the gathering). (Baihaqi)
* If there are three people in a gathering, it is wrong for 2 people
to speak in a language which is foreign to the third. (Bukhaari)
* Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has mentioned a Duaa to be recited
before standing up from a gathering. It will be a means of forgiveness
of the sins commited in it. In-Sha-Allah the dua will be published in
Friday's (22-07-11) edition of the Newsletter.

2 tsp salt
¾ tsp pepper
3 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp ajmo
2 tblsp butter
1 tin cream style sweetcorn
1 cup (250mls) fresh cream
Method:
Trim all the veg – including patty pans. Add salt, pepper and brown sugar, ajmo to vegetables and mix well. Add a slice of butter or ghee to pot. Allow to melt. Add veg spices. Cook over low heat. Do not stir often. Add ½ cup of water if necessary and cook until done. Any other desired veg can be used. Arrange cooked veg - in ovenproof dish. Pour contents of cream- style Sweetcorn over vegetables. Then pour fresh cream over the vegetables. Bake at 180C for 15 – 20 mins.
