COMPETING for the HEREAFTER

All praise is due to Almighty Allaah. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam is His Servant and Messenger. May Allaah bestow peace and blessings upon him, his family and companions.
Brothers in Islaam, fear Allaah as He should be feared and be mindful of Him openly and secretly. "O you who believe! fear Allaah as He should be feared and die not except in the state of Islaam." (Aal ‘Imraan 3:102).
Fellow Muslims, Our Almighty Lord says: "And
march forth in the way (which leads) to forgiveness from your Lord and
for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for the
pious." (Aal ‘Imraan 3:133).
He also says: "Race one with another in hastening towards Forgiveness from your Lord, and towards Paradise, the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allaah and His Messengers. That is the Grace of Allaah which He bestows on whom He pleases. And Allaah is the Owner of Great Bounty." (Al-Hadeed 57:21) read more
In Wednesday’s Newsletter (20-07-11) under the “Sunnah” section, we mentioned some Sunnan of sitting in a gathering. Hereunder is the Dua to be recited when standing up from a gathering.
Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam has said the recital of the following Dua before standing up from any gathering is a means of forgiveness of the sins commited in it:
“Subhanallahi Wa bihamdihi, Subhaana kallahumma Wa bihamdika Wa ashadu alla ilaaha illa anta Astaghfiru ka Wa atubu ilayka”
'Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him. O Allah I glorify You and praise you and testify that there is none worthy of worship but You. I seek your forgiveness and I turn to you.'
In another narration, the following Dua is reported:
“Astagh firullahal lazi laa ilaaha illahu wal hayyul qayyum wa atubu ilayhi”
'I seek forgiveness from Allah, there is no diety worthy of worship besides Him, Who is alive and everlasting and I turn towards Him.'
N.B. Knowing that this Duaa is a means of forgiveness, we should not take advantage and intentionally commit sin thinking that we will be forgiven.

Ingredients:
250g (2 cups) cake flour
15ml (1Tbsp) sugar
1 egg
5ml (1tsp) instant yeast
2.5ml (1/2 tsp) salt
30ml (2 Tbsp) butter / margarine
200ml (4/5 cup) milk water
Method:
Mix dry ingredients and rub in butter with fingertips. Add beaten egg
and milk- water slowly until soft dough is formed. Punch down and make
small balls in palm of hand (approximately the size of a R5 coin). Roll
each ball to thickness of 5mm on a lightly floured surface forming a circle.
Place on cooling rack lined with baking paper and Spray and Cook. Cover
rounds with a damp cloth and allow dough to rise double its thickness.
Place cooling rack with dough onto an ordinary baking sheet and place
in oven heated to 200*C. Bake for 10-15 minutes or just until pitas puff.
Make slit in pita and add filling and salad of choice.
