WARNING TOWARDS UNLAWFUL SINGING AND LISTENING TO IT

All praise is due to Allah who has forbidden us from places of amusement, which draws us towards sin and forbidden acts. We bear testimony that there is no deity but Allah alone who has no partner. We bear testimony that verily our leader and master, Muhammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam is His servant and messenger who has purified us from atrocities pertaining to pride who has delivered us from temptation and catastrophes.

May Allah Ta'aala send peace and blessings upon Him, His family and companions by whom we perfect ourselves and in whom we take pride. May these salutations be beyond encompassment and finality. No rebuke or distress can be leveled against the erudite jurists and those who have recognized Allah for they have had limitations in the types of singing that they have engaged in order to reach certain spiritual levels of ecstasy. Yet many from the masses and a few learned as well, have overstepped the boundaries of entertainment and thus followed their whims and fancies, placing themselves in destructive violations by not accepting their chanting to be singing.

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "Singing breeds hypocrisy in the heart just as water brings forth plantations." (Baihaqi)

Inspite of the above mentioned narration they consider a person who indulges in this vice as a saint.

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "And do not sell/hire slaves (whose occupation is singing) or purchase them, for their earnings are Haraam (unlawful) (Tirmizi, Ibn Majah). The following Ayat was revealed in similar context "And from the people there are those who buy amusement (vain speech)"

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: Allah has sent me as a mercy unto the entire creation, a guidance unto them and my sustainer has commanded me to eradicate (destroy) musical instruments, flutes, idols and crosses expressive of crucifixion and pagan customs. (Ahmed)

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has mentioned the Hadith regarding the signs of resurrection, one of which is: The springing up of songstresses and musical instruments. (Tirmizi)

I seek refuge with Allah from Shaytaan, the accursed.

Allah Ta'aala says: Are you amazed by these talks and you laugh and do not cry and yet lift your heads in pride. (An Najm, Ayat 59,60,61)

According to the Hadeeth anyone who recites the above Duaa before setting foot in the market place, Allah will record to his credit one million virtues, delete from his records the same number of sins, raise his status by the same number of stages and build for him a palace in Jannah. A passenger in a taxi tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him something. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb and stopped just inches from a large plate glass window. For a few moments everything was silent in the cab, then the driver said, "Please, don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me."

The passenger, who was also frightened, apologized and said he didn't realize that a tap on the shoulder could frighten him so much, to which the driver replied, "I'm sorry, it's really not your fault at all. Today is my first day driving a cab, I have been driving a hearse for the last 25 years."
