The Rights Of Wedlock (Nikah)

All praise is due to Allah who has created man from liquid and bestowed upon him blood relationships and marital relations. He has given creation the attribute of progeny. He has thus given them inclination which forces them towards cultivation and inevitably catered for the continuation of their race.

He has honoured the matter of lineage and has thus specified rights e.g. He prohibited fornication and has emphasized its abomination by rebuke or censure. He has permitted Nikah and has encouraged it as being meritorious and also commanded towards the same. We bear witness that there is non worthy of worship besides Allah, alone who has no partner and that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam is His slave and prophet whom He deputed with warnings and glad tidings. Salutations and abundance of peace be upon Him, His family and His companions, may these salutations be abundant so as to be impossible to compute.

Allah Ta'aala has said: "We have verily deputed prophets from before and have given them wives and families."

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "O youth, if you are capable of providing a home then get married. This will be a means of lowering your gaze and of protecting your private parts. Whoever is unable to do this, should fast. This will be a protection for him." (Bukhari, Muslim)

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "The Nikah with the most blessings is the one in which the expenses are least. (Baihaqi)

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam also said: When a proposal comes to you from a person who's piety and character you like, then get him married otherwise much evil and corruption will spread on the earth. (Tirmizi)

It is also reported that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "When a child is born to anyone, give him a good name and teach him good manners. When he becomes an adult, get him married for if he becomes mature and be not married due to which he commits sin, the father will be made responsible for his sin." (Baihaqi)

I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytaan, the accursed.

Allah Ta'aala says: "Marry those among you who are widows and the virtous ones among the males and females. If they are poor, Allah Ta'aala will enrich them from his grace, for Allah encompasses everything and knows everything. (Surah Noor, Ayat. 32)

While Away From Home

Until a person has not reached home and while he/she is still on journey, he/she should frequently recite the following five Surahs with Bismillah. After reciting the fifth Surah he should again say Bismillah. The five Surahs are as follows: Al- Kaafiroon, An- Nasr, Al- Ikhlaas, Al- Falaq and An- Naas. There should be six Bismillahs in total.

It is mentioned in the Hadeeth that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam once asked Jubair Bin Mut'am Radiyallahu Anhu: "O Jubair, when on journey, would you like to be more prosperous than your companions in appearance and in respect of provisions? (such as food and other necessities required on a journey)"

He replied: "O yes! My parents be sacrificed for your pleasure!" Thereafter Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam taught him to recite the above mentioned five Surahs together with Bismillah and to end the recitation with Bismillah. (six Bismillahs in total)

Jubair Radiyallahu Anhu says that prior to this, in spite of being wealthy, whenever he used to be on a journey, he always found himself impoverished and in want. After he started reciting the five Surahs in the manner shown to him by Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, he found himself more prosperous than his companions and free from care until he returned home. (Al Hisnul Hasin, pg. 155/156)

Paprika, red pepper and chili powder: 2 years
Baking soda unopened: 18 months. Opened: 6 months.
Baking powder unopened: 6 months. Opened: 3 months.
Salad dressing unopened: 10-12 months. Opened: 3 months if refrigerated.
Ground, canned coffee unopened: 2 years. Opened: 2 weeks, if refrigerated.
Jams, jellies and preserves unopened: 1 year. Opened: 6 months if refrigerated.
Peanut butter unopened: 6-9 months. Opened: 2-3 months.
