DEEDS TO BE PERFORMED DURING AASHURA I.E. THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF MUHARRAM.
All praise is due to Allah who has given the sun and the moon fixed orbital periods. The stars and the moon bow down (to him). He gives preference of certain times over others as He has given preference to some places over others or preference to some people over others.
We bear witness that there is no diety besides Allah, who has no partner. We bear witness that our leader and master, Muhammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam is His servant and prophet who has guided us towards goodness, amidst which is the fasting of Aashura, the day of good actions. He has also prohibited us from bad actions amidst which are all those that were innovated. May Allah Ta'aala's salutations be upon Muhammed Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, his family, his companions who have uplifted the compulsory as well as the preferable acts of Deen. They have also destroyed the forbidden and detested customs of the pagan days. May these salutations, greetings and peace be in abundance.
Verily the day of Aashura is close. People commit good actions as well as innovations during the month. From amongst the former is the preferable action of keeping fast on it. Verily Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: "The best of fasting after Ramadaan is in Allah's month of Muharram." (Muslim)
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said (concerning) fasting on the day of Aashura, "I have hope from Allah that it would be a means of compensation for the preceding year." (Muslim)
Initially the fast of Aashura was kept prior to the obligation of Ramadaan after the law of keeping fast in Ramadaan was revealed then those who wished, fasted on the day of Aashura while others did not. Those who optionally fasted sought the blessings of abundant sustenance to his family therein.
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said: Whoever spends freely on his family on the day of Aashura, Allah Ta'aala will give him blessings in his sustenance for the entire year. (Razien, Baihaqi)
Some misguided people have thus begun taking the day to be one of rejoicing, reading elegies, mourning, expressing grief, visiting tombs and personalities. They also engage in other such lame and trivial acts of entertainment, shirk (associating partners to Allah) as well as other forms of sin.
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytaan.
Allah Ta'aala says: "Whoever does an atom of
good, he will see the good reward of it and whoever does an atom of
bad will see its evil result." (Zilzaal, Ayat 7,8)

Duaa When Finding Accomodation.
After finding accommodation and at the time of settling down, recite:
"A'oothu bi kalimaa tillaahit taammaati min sharri maa khalaq"
I beg protection of Allah's perfect words from the mischief of what He has created.
According to the Hadeeth, if a person reads the above Ta'awwuz before settling down in any place no harm will come to him for as long as he remains in that place. (Al Hisnul Hasin pg154)

This is an easy way to safeguard our families and ourselves from the evil that lurks in that particular place. Simply recite this Duaa when entering your place of stay for protection from that place. Along with the benefits (protection) one will also get reward for verily the name of Allah was taken and this brings pleasure to Allah Ta'aala.

Ingredients
:
1 chicken - cut into pieces
whole red chillies to taste
1 1/2 cups yoghurt
2 tsp garlic paste
2 tsp ginger paste
1 lime
oil
Method
:
Grind red chillies to a paste and mix with the ginger and garlic paste.
Heat oil and fry the paste then add the chicken pieces and fry it for
some time. Add the yoghurt and then let it cook. When cooked add lime
juice and serve.
