Abdullah bin Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: There were, about forty of us with the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) in a camp when he said, "Aren't you pleased that you will constitute one-fourth of the inhabitants of Jannah?'' We said, "Yes". He again said, "Aren't you pleased that you will constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Jannah?". We said: "Yes.'' Upon this he (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, "By Him in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, I hope that you will constitute one-half of the inhabitants of Jannah; and the reason is that only Muslims will be admitted into Jannah; and you are no more compared to the polytheists than as a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a black hair on the skin of a white ox.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Commentary:
This Hadith reveals the following two points:
1. As compared with the believers and the faithful, there will be a
large number of infidels in Hell.
2. As compared with the followers of other Prophets, there will be a
larger number of Muslims in Jannah, to the extent that half of its occupants
will be Muslims. This Hadith has glad tidings for the Muslim Ummah and
bestows great respect and honour on them. (May Allah include us among
them.)

AN ODE TO MY UMMAH
From
North to South and East to West
I scanned for only the very best
I found pious members of my Ummah
Going to extremes to follow my Sunnah
For Allah has given them Hikmah.
I
feel overwhelmed with joy and pride
From every minaret the Azhaan was cried
They flock in thousands, young and old
To gather for Salaah, even in the cold
Dressed in my favourite white
They have made me their guiding light
Their Nafs is what they perpetually fight.
O!
Allah they sacrifice and fast from food
They make Taubah, Shukr and read Durood
Please treat them with compassion
and grant them my intercession,
As they learn Hadith, a really great lesson
A
great number of Huffaz and Hafizas
Graduate annually from Madressahs
The finely polished gems in full Purdah
Have attained complete Hidayah
They too will be the treasures of Jannah
With
magnanimity they give alms
For the poor to smile and seal their palms
Gladly they accept Your Hajj invitation
Rituals they perform without hesitation
The rewards are in Quraan – a clear manifestation
The
splendour of the Eid Gah sight
Reflects my Ummah’s might
The Safs are straightened in unity
At the Janazah, I see the whole community
Therefore, O! Allah grant them immunity.
MY UMMAH, MY UMMAH, MY UMMAH.
