Surah
Al-Qiyamah 75: - (The Resurrection)
With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful
and
it is said, "Who is an enchanter (that can save him?)"
[27]
and he realizes that it is (the time of) departure (from the
world,) [28]
and one shank is intertwined with the other shank, [29]
then on that day, it is to your Lord that one has to be driven.
[30]
So (the denier of the Hereafter) neither believed, nor prayed,
[31]
but rejected the truth and turned away (from it), [32]
then he went to his home puffed up with pride. [33]
COMMENTARY:
In the statement, (and one shank is intertwined with the other
shank) the word Saaq means 'shank'. This statement could mean
that, being agitated and restless, he strikes one shank on
the other, or rubs one shank against the other. It could also
signify that if one leg is placed on the other, and the dying
person wants to move it, he would not be able to do so. [Sha'bi
and Hasan have interpreted it in this way]
Sayyidna
Ibn 'Abbas . says that the two 'shanks' refer to the two worlds:
the Here and the Hereafter. The verse signifies 'the last
day of the days of this world and the first day of the days
of the Hereafter; one affliction will be joined to another,
and the agony of leaving this world will be joined to the
agony of the punishment awaiting the disbeliever in the next
world'. And Allah knows best!

THE MESSAGE |
BEHIND
EVERY SUCCESSFUL YOUTH ARE PARENTS
-----------------------------------------------
In
today’s times we have problem children, and we also have
problem parents. Before we label our son or daughter as
problematic, just consider whether we, too, are not part
of the problem. Every father and mother should harken to
these words. A child’s behaviour is, more often than not,
a reflection of the parents’ treatment of it.
When a father complained about his son to Ameerul-Mumineen
Umar RA, then instead of reprimanding the son the Caliph
began questioning the father whether he had fulfilled his
role as a father.
“What you sow shall you reap” is an idiom very apt to a
parent / child relationship. There are of course, exceptions
to the general rule, but quite often parents are to blame
for their child’s erratic behaviour. When parents do not
give love to their daughter, she might seek it (and find
it) in a boy outside the home. When parents treat the son
with disdain and harshness, they distance him from themselves.
The result is lack of obedience. When parents fail to acknowledge
their child’s achievements, they break its morale. When
parents only know the child’s faults but do not provide
solutions, then they become part of the problem instead
of the solution.
Parents
need to support their
children through thick and thin. Always shower them with
words of encouragement, instead of finding fault in every
little thing they do. When your son or daughter errs, point
out the fault with wisdom, tact, and decency. Then proceed
to provide a solution.
At
times overlook a child’s naughtiness, and reprimand it on
another occasion. Your child is what you make of it. Your
attitude and behaviour will either create the monster you
cannot handle, or the angel that does you proud. A child’s
success is the making of his or her parents. By success
we do not mean passing matric with 10 ‘a’s, or achieving
a university degree. Success in this context means the child’s
morality, character, and mental stability. Schools and universities
cannot give this to your child. It is you as a mother and
father, who can motive your son or daughter to this distinctive
achievement.
I
leave all parents with the following astounding statement
from the World’s Expert on human psychology, Prophet Muhammad
Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam:
"Four
things are among the signs of a man’s nobility: 1) A virtuous
wife. 2) Noble children. 3) Righteous friends. 4) A livelihood
in his hometown. (Narrated by Imam Suyooti (RA with references
in his hadith anthology, Jam’ul Jawaami’ )

A THOUGHT |
UPON
HIS WAY
----------------
None can be from among the followers of the Messenger. in
reality except the one who calls to Allaah with clear insight
and evidence (Baseerah):
"Say
(O Muhammad! This is my way. I invite unto Allaah with keen
insight and sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me..
[Soorah al-Yoosuf (12):10]
His
saying, ...I invite unto Allaah... explains his way, which
he is upon, since his way and the way of his followers is
calling to Allaah. Therefore, whoever does not call to Allaah
is not upon his way.
And
His saying, ...with keen insight and sure knowledge (Baseerah)
Ibn al-A’raabi said, Al-Baseerah: (meaning) firmness in
the religion...

THE SMILE |
Water
in the Glass
------------------
What would people of different professions and walks of life
say?
The
BANKER would say that the glass has just under 50% of its
net worth in liquid assets.
The
GOVERNMENT would say that the glass is fuller than if the
opposition party were in power.
The
OPPOSITION would say that it is irrelevant because the present
administration has changed the way such volume statistics
are collected.
The
ECONOMIST would say that, in real terms, the glass is 25%
fuller than at the same time last year.
The
PHILOSOPHER would say that, if the glass was in the forest
and no one was there to see it, would it be half anything?
The
PSYCHIATRIST would ask, "What did your mother say about
the glass?" |
