THE FRIDAY KHUTBAH (SERMON)

All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings of Allaah be upon the Messenger, his household and companions.

Fellow Muslims! Fear Allaah and be dutiful to Him. Be conscious of Him in your public and private life; for He commands you to be conscious of Him in all that you say and do. He promised to reform your affairs for you, to forgive you your sins and to let you attain great reward in the Hereafter. He says,

"O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allaah and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger has indeed achieved a great reward." (Al-Ahzaab 33:70-71)

In this noble verse, Allaah commands His believing slaves to fear Him in all their conditions and in word and deed, by fulfilling His Commandments and abstaining from all that He forbids. read more

Ali bin Rabee`ata said: I witnessed Ali bin Abi Tãib when he was given a beast of burden to mount, just when he put his foot in the mount he said: In the name of Allah [ Bismillahi ], then when he had ascended upon its back, he said: All praise be to Allah [ Al-hamdu lil-lãh ], then he said: Subhãnal-lathee sakh-khara lanã hãthã wa mã kunnã lahu muqrineena. Wa'innã 'lã rabbinã lamunqaliboona. Then he said Al-hamdu lil-lãhi 3 times, then he said: 'Allãhu 'akbaru, 3 times, then he said: Subhãnaka 'allãhumma 'inne thalamtu nafsee, faghfirlee, fa'innahu lã yaghfiruth-thunooba 'illã 'anta… Glory be to Him who has availed this to our use, for we were not bound to it. And to our Lord surely we will be returning.

Then he smiled, so he was asked: O' Commander of the faithful! Why did you smile? He said: I saw the Prophet do as I have done, then he smiled, so I asked him: O' Messenger of Allah! Why do you smile? He said "Your Lord Glorified and Exalted is He, admires when one of His bondservants says: Lord forgive me my sins, he knows that no one else forgives sins besides Me [Allah]".

The Sri Lankan government has vowed to launch a final offensive against the Tamil Tigers, while thousands of civilians continue to flee the conflict zone in the island's northeast.

RECIPE

Basic Fish Masala
----------------
2 Tbsp garlic - 4 Tsp crushed red chillies - 2 tsp red chilli powder - ½ tsp arad - 4 tsp dhana jeero powder - 1 Tbsp oil - 2 Tsbp fresh lemon juice - 1 Tbsp coconut - 1 Tbsp sesame seeds - Curry leaves - 1 Tbsp fish spice.

Mix all ingredients together. Marinate fish leftover masala can be stored in the freezer. Sprinkle flour on fish before frying. Fry both sides in medium hot shallow oil until crisp.

COOKING TIP

Most vegetables should be stored in the refrigerator to preserve freshness. Exceptions include potatoes, sweet potatoes, mature onions, hard-rind squashes, eggplant and rutabagas, which keep well in cool rather than cold storage. Tomatoes should be refrigerated only after they are fully ripe and only for a short time.

(1) A man loves his life, his perfection and his living long.
(2) He loves one who helps him in his livelihood.
(3) He loves one who does good to the people.
(4) He loves one who has external and internal beauty.
(5) He loves one who has a secret connection with him.

If these qualities are found in one person, love for him is increased manifold.
