Surah
Al-Qiyamah 75: - (The Resurrection)
With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful
Rather,
man will be a witness against himself, [14]
even though he may offer his excuses. [15]
COMMENTARY:
(Rather, man will be a witness against himself, even though
he may offer his excuses. One meaning of the words Baseer
and Baseerah is 'to see'. Another meaning of Baseerah is 'evidence',
as for instance in: ...”There have come to you evidences from
your Lord.” [6:104]
In
this verse the word Baseer is the plural of Baseerah and it
means 'evidence, proof, argument or insight'. The word Ma'aathir
is the plural of Mi'thaar meaning, 'excuse'. The verse purports
to say that for purposes of following the procedures of fairness
and justice, man will be shown each of his deeds on the Plain
of Reckoning, although in fact this will not be necessary
for him, because every man knows what he does in this world,
and he will recall his deeds in the Hereafter, even though
he will make excuses. Furthermore, he will see all his good
and bad actions on the Plain of Reckoning as the Qur'an says:
“...And they will find what they did all there.”[18:49]'
If
the word Baseerah is taken in the sense of 'evidence, or proof,
the verse signifies that man will be a clear proof against
himself, in spite of any excuses he might offer.
However,
man fails to realize that in this situation, the limbs of
his own body [his hearing, his sight, his two hands and his
two legs] will testify against him. This is the meaning of
the words “even though he may offer his excuses.” [75:15]'

THE MESSAGE |
SMILE
------
Laughing moderately can act as a cure or as therapy for depression
and sadness. It has a strong influence on keeping the soul
light and the heart clear. Abu Darda RA said: "I make
it a practice to laugh in order to give rest and comfort to
my heart." And the noblest of peoples Muhammad Sallallahu
Alyhi Wa Sallam would laugh sometimes until his molars became
visible."
Laughing
is an efficacious way to achieve comfort and light-heartedness,
but keep in mind that as in other things, you should not be
immoderate. The Prophet Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said: "do
not laugh excessively, for verily excessive laughter kills
the heart." What is called for is moderation.
"And
if you smile in the face of your brother then that is a form
of chanty."
Also he, {Sulayman AS smiled, amused by her speech} (Qur'aan
27:19)
Also when you laugh, you should not do so in a mocking or
in a jeering fashion: "but when he came to them with
Our Aayaat [proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations,
etc.] behold! They laughed at them." (Qur'aan 43:47)
Among the pleasures of Paradise will be laughter: "And
this Day [the Day of Resurrection those who believe will laugh."
(Qur'aan 83: 34)
The
Arabs held in high esteem a person who was known for his smile
and laughter. They believed this to be a sign of a generous
personality and of a person who has a noble disposition and
a clear mind.
The
truth IS that the principles of Islam are based on moderation
and on good measure, whether it is in matters of belief worship,
manners, or conduct. Islam does not condone a rigid frowning
expression, nor does it condone a constant playful giddiness;
rather what it does promote is seriousness when it is called
for, and a reasonable level of light-heartedness when it is
called for.
Bearing
a gloomy mien and a frowning countenance are marks of a lowly
character a troubled natures and hot-headedness. "Then
he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way." (Qur'aan
74:22)
The Prophet Sallallahu Alyhi Wa Sallam said: "Do
not disparage (Underestimate) any good deed (No matter how
small it is), even if that deed was to meet your brother with
a friendly countenance." Ahmed Ameen said in his book
Fayd al-Khaatir.

THE SMILE |
A
TOP SENIOR MOMENT
-----------------------
A self-important college freshman walking along the beach
took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen resting
on the steps why it was impossible for the older generation
to understand his generation. "You grew up in a different
world, actually an almost primitive one," the student
said loud enough for others to hear. "The young people
of today grew up with television, jetplanes, space travel,
man walking on the moon. We have nuclear energy, ships and
cell phones, computers with lightspeed... and many more.
After
a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows.
'You're right son. We didn't have those things when we were
young... so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little one!
What are you doing for the next generation?
